I just very recently set up a new email account. In my spam folder, I noticed that there are emails being sent using my new email as the sender in the "From" area. Does this mean I have a hole in my computer and someone is seeing everything I do on the Internet? How did my brand new email get exploited?
If my email is being exploited to send spam, is my computer infected w/a virus?
There are many factors that might explain how emails are being sent from your address maliciously (you downloaded a attachment that contained a trojan, etc).
Let me ask you this:
Do you have a firewall?
Do you have an anti-virus?
Do you have an antispyware?
If you have neither one of them or just one, than you're really asking for a trojan.
For Firewall I recommend ONE of these (only use one firewall):
Comodo Firewall Pro (It's free):

Online Armor Free:

For free anti-virus (if you can't afford one), I recommend ONE of these:
Avast! Home Edition (provides multiple protections)
http://avast.com/eng/download-avast-home...
AntiVir Personal Edition Classic (strongest among the two, but also a bit more advance)

For antispyware I recommend these two (you can have both of these on the same computer):
AVG Antispyware (use to be ewido antispyware and for the first 30 days, you'll be using the Trial version of AVG Antispyware Paid version. After that you'll just get the scanner):

SuperAntispyware Free (powerful tool)

Also for additional safety, I recommend you perform an online scan with kaspersky online scanner:

Reply:You have a trojan virus, you need to get rid of it. get anti virus and not the free ones, also try this
