If a spam email address is blocked, how does it still turn up in my Inbox ?

I'm beginning to see a great deal of spam coming from Yahoo email addresses. In some cases, the spam note indicates that the Yahoo email address which forwarded the spam was "previously blocked." If it was previously blocked. how the heck did it get to my Inbox ?

If a spam email address is blocked, how does it still turn up in my Inbox ?
Because 1) spammers are cunning and relentless, and 2) spam filters can never be 100% effective.
Reply:Spammers don't use the same email address twice for sending out their junk mails. The mails may look the same, but they each come from a different address. That's why the spam blocker can't catch them. If you see commonly used words in the subject lines, you can create your own filters (Options %26gt; Filters) to automatically get rid of emails that contain those words. I have filters that look for "lottery" and "winner", and find it goes a long way to keeping the spam at manageable levels.

My publicity email turned to spam. How can I fix this?

Because of the need to advertise one of the products of the company I work for, I had to send nearly a hundred emails (all of our customers) from my work account. The problem is, now I am getting feedback saying that my email address and the company's domain was treated as spam. How can I fix this so we can continue sending emails to our customers?

Please note this is not massive mail meant to be spam, but actual publicity of our products being sent to customers actually paying us for other services.

My publicity email turned to spam. How can I fix this?
I THINK if you go into your email options (on my right side of the screen, almost to the top) you can correct this by resetting the spam filter. If not..hopefully someone with more experience can give you a better answer! good luck!
Reply:Send out 1 at a time - no CC or BCC. Too many people in the BCC or CC lines gets you flagged.

Recovering an email sent to spam?

I accidentally checked an email in my inbox as spam and clicked the button before I realized it wasn't spam. Is there any way to retrieve this message or is it gone for good? Is this sender now blocked from me account?

Recovering an email sent to spam?
hahah... i have done that too!

I hope you have ur preferences saved such that spam mails are also saved for a small period in a seperate spam folder.

If you have a spam folder , look for the mail, and mark it again as "Not spam"

If you just don't have a spam folder then the mail is gone! if you know the sender ask them to resend it , of course after you have changed the preferences!
Reply:Unless the message has been deleted from the spam folder, then there's still a very good chance to retrieve it-now may be the time to do so. Here's how you do it:

-Proceed to the spam folder and carefully search for the message that you accidentally spammed and highlight it

-Then click Not Spam to return the message to the inbox; this action will also remove the address from the list of blocked addresses.

Hope this helps.

How do I get rid of all the Spam mail I keep getting in my email?

I mark them all as spam but they keep coming. I get like 100 a day!

How do I get rid of all the Spam mail I keep getting in my email?
Once your email address is on a spammers list it is almost impossible to get off. Right now, your e-mail address (along with millions of others) is on a CD being sold from the back rooms of software shops from Bangladesh to Botswanna and from Norway to the Netherlands.

However there are several things that you can do to prevent even more spam.

1. Start by removing your e-mail address from your Yahoo profile,if it is on it. The spam-industry has programs that are continusously crawling the web looking for the "@" symbol which is a sure sign the the word before it and the domain name after it is an e-mail address!

2. Use a longer address. The spam industry uses programs that try sending e-mail to all known domain names. Example: a program might start trying to send out e-mails to everyone starting with aaaaa@INVALID.com and continue down to zzzzz@INVALID.com. Using a longer e-mail address will make this harder to do.

3. Never click the "Unsubscribe Link" in any spam e-mail. This will only confirm to the spammers that your e-mail address is indeed real and that you are reading their garbage. In fact, do not even open any e-mail from anybody you don't know or trust. Many spams are not only annoying but contain viruses of other malware. Just delete 'em without opening 'em!.

You can however click that "Unsubscribe Me" button from businesses that are well known and that you trust. Walmart... yes. Someone selling Viagra...no.

4. Open up a second e-mail account. Whenever, a website requires you to register using your e mail address, use this secondary address. There are many unscrupulous websites that will sell you address to others or bombard you with spam themselves.

5. Download a free copy of SiteAdvisor. SiteAdvisor will alert you when you search (Google, Yahoo, MSN, search only) of websites that are known to send out spam. This can help you avoid registering with any sites that are known to spam people.

http://www.siteadvisor.com/

Treat your e-mail address just like you would your telephone number or home address....only give it out to those that you absolutely trust!
Reply:Make sure not to put your e-mail in all websites.

Make a junk email just fro that reason:) but you might wanna get a blocker for that kind of stuff
Reply:Check all the spam in your inbox and "Report as spam". You may have to do this for a little while as your email provider catches up with the requests. You might want to think about having one email for family/friends and 1 for spam (internet sign ups, etc.) Whatever you do DO NOT "unsubcribe" from them, as this will bring even more spam.

2. Only accept mail from people you know in your inbox.

3. Have one email address for general usage and a second one for official stuff, like family, subscriptions, banking.

How do large companies send out millions of email in a day without them instantly going to the spam folder?

I am looking for a career change and was reading up on bulk email marketing for a particular job I am looking at. I am assuming that this would be done by a particular type of software. Does anyone know what type of software this would be so that I can read about it or if you know anything about the concept will you please share you experience.

Thanks.

How do large companies send out millions of email in a day without them instantly going to the spam folder?
Most companies are cheating when they send out millions of emails. The servers have them sign an agreement that they won't do this. So the companies are usually cheating since they promised they wouldn't do it.

The software they use allows them to "spoof" the server into thinking that the emails are coming from 100 different locations and computers. There is not one single company that is legally sending out millions of emails every day. Not one..
Reply:Bulk email marketing is generally done by specialized software. Most of this type of software is now web-based. The introduction of the CAN-SPAM Act means that it is illegal to send email that is not permission-based. So you need a reputable email service provider (sometimes called email marketing software). They generally charge a monthly subscription based on the number of contacts you are sending to.

You need to take into account the deliverablity rate of the supplier, as well as what other features they can help you with. I'd recommend trying out Contactology (www.contactology.com). Most email providers will allow you to have a free trial, so give it a try

How do I get a phone number to call Yahoo email for help on spam?

Have tried everything to get a yahoo phone number to find information. FAQ etc is worthless

How do I get a phone number to call Yahoo email for help on spam?
You don't have to call Yahoo for help on spam. There are lots of ways to contact Yahoo. But they provided a lot of FAQ with answers under Yahoo help. I know sometimes, they can be so confusing. But if you really want to contact them; you can send them an e-mail which they respond in a timely manner. I have done this in the past several times. You can send your e-mail to:

mail@cc.yahoo.inc.com

I tried, but they refused to allow me to copy and paste.

Below is an example of one of their replies to me:

To tell you the truth, you'll find clearer solutions to your problems in this site.

But I'm sure I can help you with your particular problem. I'll explain it explicitly and in simple terms:

Yahoo does have Spam Block and it's free. There are several provisions for spam block. Go to mail options, found on the extreme right of the yahoo mail page. Under General Preferences, look for Special Folders. Check the box that says sent messages will be send to your sent folder and that unsolicited mail or suspected spam will go to your bulk folder. And Under Spam Protection, turn Spam guard on, and mark the box to immediately delete these messages upon receipt. Or you can choose to save messages for 1 month, the longest.

Under marking Spam and not Spam. Check the box that upon marking, the message will be deleted immediately and the sender's e-mail address to be added to the blocked addresses list. Then you can check the box that when you mark a message in the Bulk Folder as not spam, move message to inbox. And you can choose to block images in the messages.

You can check your block addresses list under two headings. One is under the the block address in this mail option. You can add manually the e-mail of this unwanted contact. The other section to view your blocked addresses list is under the spam. This is located on the e-mail message itself. Spam comes after Forward (you'll find delete, reply, forward then Spam).

After manually marking that particular unwanted, pestering and annoying e-mail. his e-mail address will automatically be added to the blocked addresses list. In here,is the option to view that list. Make sure his e-mail address is there. He might use an altenate e-mail address. You can either add, unblock and update your list. Do not just delete it.AS this will not solve the problem. Do not unsubscribe for any telemarketer ads, they'll just send you more now that they are sure of your e-mail address. Again,I stress that you have to mark it manually. But if you accomplish the provided prior guidelines, you should not have to do this manually. It should all be accomplsihed automatically for you.

Another way to ensure that you don't receive these spam. Go to My Account and locate Edit

Marketing Preferences. Do not check any of those boxes. This exhibits your various interests and give them cart blanc permission to send you more irritating spam.

There's a final drastic solution to undertake to avoid spam. In your Bulk Folder, turn Spam Guard on and mark the box to delete all spam immediately upon receipt even before you get a chance to review them. This way, your Bulk Folder will stay empty. But if you follow the other precautionary steps, you might not have to do this.
Reply:i dont know but i have been getting hammered with spam every day for the past couple of months

How do I flag unwanted email as spam even if spam guard is on?

Assuming you're on Yahoo, when you look at the list of messages, there is a "spam" button at the top (between delete and mark). Click the box(es) to the left of the message subject(s) and then click the "spam" button. If you've opened the message, you can simply click the "spam" button above the message between forward and move.

How do you stop spam on your yahoo email account?

I recently started getting tons of spam in my yahoo email account and I'm not sure how to stop it. I downloaded CDex recently and unsubscribed from their lists but I think they may have given out my email address. What can I do?

How do you stop spam on your yahoo email account?
the only real solution would be to close that account and start another one and quit clicking on things if your not sure what they are..........or you can endure the spam as it comes in and mark it as spam and yahoo will send any further mail from them to the dump and it wont hit your inbox..............or keep that address and make a new id and inform all your friends of the new you, that way all your friends would be using the new address and you could use the old address to click away........lol good luck

This happened to me a few months ago, too.

I was getting a lot of spam every day from my own Yahoo email account.

I tried everything I could think of and even contacted Yahoo about it but nothing did any good and Yahoo would not bother to help me.

I finally had to delete that Yahoo acct and start a new one.

It really sux because I had my old email acct for about 10 years.

Good luck. And I hope you can find some answers that will help you keep your email acct.

I have no idea how spammers can do this, but they do!

Click on "Blocked Addresses"

Click on the Address you want to remove block

Click on "Remove Block"

I think a very important email was automatically deleted in Spam. I can't contact the sender. Can I find out?

This a very important reply to my message, but I cannot ask my sender if they responded. One response would have taken place in February, one possibly in February or March. I'm afraid it came in through spam and was just deleted without my even knowing it was sent. I need to know if there is a way to "undelete" and retrieve this message. Any info with be very much appreciated. Thank You!

I think a very important email was automatically deleted in Spam. I can't contact the sender. Can I find out?
Probably not. But maybe you could write this person and say that you have had porblems with your email and everything was deleted.
Reply:Once a message has been deleted, it is gone forever, unless you have specific software to retrieve it. If you think it was a message that went to spam, always check your spam to make sure there is not something in there you want to keep - check mark and click on 'Not spam.' Make sure your spam is in the box for a time period long enough for you to check them.

Look for the 'Options' link at upper right corner of mail screen and click on it

Options/ mail options / spam preferences

make sure spam guard is on, check the length of time in box, then click on save changes.

As far as getting that particular E-mail back, you can also ask the contact if they can send it again.

How do I find a list of email messages that have been blocked as spam?
If your spam settings are set to save blocked emails, just go to your Bulk folder and check there. If you're not sure of what your settings are on, go to Options on the right of the main mail screen, then to Spam Protection in the first column. The first section controls what Yahoo does to spam, and you can change that as you need to.

To be sure that your client's emails come through to you, create a filter so that Yahoo will not send your client's emails to the Bulk or Trash folders. (Filters take precedence over spam settings.) Go to Options, then to Filters in the middle column. Click Add to create a new filter, then give it a name and fill in your client's email address in the "From header:" box. Towards the bottom of the page, choose where you want your client's email to go - the Inbox is easiest, unless you have a different folder for specific clients. Then click Save Changes and you should be set.

No excuse for that. It is with all bulk mail in place of the spam button. It is a glitch. You can try to restart the pc to fix if you want.

How can you receive spam from an email address that doesn't exist?

When I reply to spam mail and tell them to leave me alone I get a delivery failure notice.

How can you receive spam from an email address that doesn't exist?
Spammers know how to forge mail addresses. You should never reply to spam mails, because that lets them know that they hit a real mail address and subsequently you will even get more spam mail!
Reply:That is just 1 on MANY tricks the spammers have up their sleeves. I could go on and on about their tricks but I have found only 1 perfect system that allows me to stop receiving all spam while not loosing any of the emails that I WANTED to receive. http://www.EnterTo.com has the Challenge Response to protect against spambots AND seamlessly creates an alias channel between you and everyone that you communicate with. They are ridiculously easy to manage as well. I have been using EnterTo.com for about 2 years now and I get NO spam and I get ALL the emails that I wanted to get. There isn't even a bulk or spam folder since it is not needed.

Why do i get the same spam email in yahoo mail when i've hit the spam button?
In classic mail when you hit spam it adds the address to the blocked address list. In new mail it is not automatic. The spam notice going to Yahoo does not block immediately. If that was the case you could block anyone's mail from everybody. It takes many notifications from multiple people for a spam to be blocked. What most people don't know that there is only a single spam filter for all of the free Yahoo mail. The only personal block is the blocked address list.

Reply:just delete your email. yahoo offers free email, but doesn't keep up on its own program

If my email is being exploited to send spam, is my computer infected w/a virus?

I just very recently set up a new email account. In my spam folder, I noticed that there are emails being sent using my new email as the sender in the "From" area. Does this mean I have a hole in my computer and someone is seeing everything I do on the Internet? How did my brand new email get exploited?

If my email is being exploited to send spam, is my computer infected w/a virus?
There are many factors that might explain how emails are being sent from your address maliciously (you downloaded a attachment that contained a trojan, etc).

Let me ask you this:

Do you have a firewall?

Do you have an anti-virus?

Do you have an antispyware?

If you have neither one of them or just one, than you're really asking for a trojan.

For Firewall I recommend ONE of these (only use one firewall):

Comodo Firewall Pro (It's free):

http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/

Online Armor Free:

http://www.tallemu.com/online_armor_free...

For free anti-virus (if you can't afford one), I recommend ONE of these:

Avast! Home Edition (provides multiple protections)

http://avast.com/eng/download-avast-home...

AntiVir Personal Edition Classic (strongest among the two, but also a bit more advance)

http://www.free-av.com/

For antispyware I recommend these two (you can have both of these on the same computer):

AVG Antispyware (use to be ewido antispyware and for the first 30 days, you'll be using the Trial version of AVG Antispyware Paid version. After that you'll just get the scanner):

http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

SuperAntispyware Free (powerful tool)

http://www.superantispyware.com/

Also for additional safety, I recommend you perform an online scan with kaspersky online scanner:

How do I keep my email address and destroy spam?

I get it everyday it doesn't stop. If I don't maintain my PRIMARY email address it would have been flooded with spam. I literally have a tear in my eye...

How do I keep my email address and destroy spam?
impossible but you can try adding every single one as junk mail and they may just end up in your junk box everytime they send you something :D
Reply:You can not completely stop all spam, but you can help to put a big dent in it.

First, try not to open any of them, that only makes them send more and more to you.

Check mark them and click on 'Spam,' this should stop those addresses from being delivered to your inbox.

Use your spam filter and block address.

Look for the 'Options' link at upper right corner of mail screen and click on it

Options/ mail options / spam preferences

make sure spam guard is on, click on save changes

Options /mail options / blocked addresses

Enter the E-mail address you wish blocked and click on 'add block'

you will never get mail from that address again.

This should help you to control your spam.

Other tips:

Never open E-mail unless you are absolutely sure who it is from.

Never give out your personal information to anyone.

If at a website and you must sign up for something, check the entire page to make sure you uncheck any lines wanting to send you notices, info, or ads.

Hope this helps.
Reply:you can send spam files to spam folder and simply click"empty" every time to empty your spam folder. this is the case on yahoo mail, im sure gmail works in the same fashion.

Perhaps that's because you leave the subject field blank.

I made a mistake and reported an email as spam. I need to recieve this email. Can you help me change this?
Hi, you do not need to contact anyone to have this reversed. You can do it yourself.

Just follow these steps:

1.) Go to OPTIONS

2.) From the drop down menu choose MAIL OPTIONS

3.) On the next page choose SPAM on the left side of the page

4.) Go to the blocked senders list and find the email address that you want to remove and click on it

5.) When the address is highlighted click the REMOVE button on the right side of the box

6.) When you're finished click SAVE CHANGES at the top of the screen

I hope this helps.

Why is email from ME going into SPAM folder?

I sent two emails to a group I email daily and put myself in the cc field. The last two emails have been directed into my SPAM folder and not into my inbox. Why is YAHOO considering email I SEND from my YAHOO address SPAM??? And I pay for this service?

Why is email from ME going into SPAM folder?
Really this is pretty weird, but Yahoo does classify many repetitive emails as spam. So when it came back to you it sees that this went to many. It also rates a message by the verbage. You must have used all the right words.

Click it as Not Spam and Yahoo will remember that.
Reply:Because you don't have your e-mail address in your contacts list.

Therefore it doesn't know your e-mail address and it will automatically go into the spam folder.

To fix this, all you have to do is add yourself as a contact.

Hope I've helped!

Spam email. I have been sent a couple of spam emails, seemingly from my own email account (Yahoo). Is this a?

ruse to make me open them? Or is something sinister at play. I have an Apple Mac.

Thank you

Spam email. I have been sent a couple of spam emails, seemingly from my own email account (Yahoo). Is this a?
I had similar experience. After getting advice off Answers, I closed my email account, set up three new accounts, each for seperate purposes - online shopping, work stuff and keeping in touch with friends. I also made a printed list of my contacts, as well as having lists in my accounts. I made all my passwords much more secure and change them regularly. I now only get spam on my online shopping address.

I had trouble persuading Yahoo that the account was mine in order to close it, but when several friends reported spam email to Yahoo from my address that helped get things moving.

Incidently I also set up a one-off account to email the scammer at my own address and asked him to pack it in, as I was an old lady and it was all too much of a hassle for me. He emailed back and said Sorry!

Reply:This is one of many tricks the spammers use. They put your return address on the mail, but there will also be a return envelope address for all the mails sent with it. Sending a copy of the full header along with a copy of the email to the abuse department at your mail provider may get them stopped. Otherwise there is nothing else you can do.
Reply:I've had the same problem and Yahoo Mail weren't exactly helpful.

All thats happened is that someone has got hold of your email address and is sending out emails as though they are from you to prevent the messages getting blocked. Unfortunately it's not too difficult to make the email appear to be from your outbox even though it's not.

Unfortunately there's not a lot you can do to remedy it
Reply:I suggest not to open them. Just delete them straight away.

It's very easy to forge sender's email address. That's why

you may get spam from yourself. It has nothing to do with

using Mac.
Reply:change your password on the account and then spam the messages so that they will be sent to junk mail instead of your inbox
Reply:SPAM = don't open

I think someone is using my email address to send spam?

I keep getting Mail undelivered notifications and the emails look like they are something to do with watches. I don't want to change my email address because I'm attached to it and I have it printed on business cards. Can I do anything about it or will the problem sort itself out?

I think someone is using my email address to send spam?
Check your sent folder. If you sent it, change your password and dump the folder.
Reply:This happened to me a while back. It was caused by a virus which I had received as an email, from an unknown sender . Check your computer for viruses asap! :) And never open emails unless you know the sender - I learned from experience!

x
Reply:change your password instead
Reply:Once in a great while this happens to me, too. Password has nothing to do with it, they are using your email address as the sender somehow, that is how it bounces back into your box.

How do you block spam email containing the word "lottery," or any specific word.?

How do you block spam email containing the word "lottery," or any specific word.?
Depends what email server you use. You can go into your emails spam filter settings and for example, it might say delete/block/'move to folder' all emails with name/subjectheading/from address etc.. hope this helps, you can do it hotmail, yahoo and gmail

How do I stop porno emails from showing up in my email, I have programs for spam that don't stop them?

I have spam blockers and spy sweeper, etc. but these emails continue to show up in my email. I am hoping that there is someway to completely stop them. Please let me know if anyone knows of anything I can do to stop them. Thanks in advance.

How do I stop porno emails from showing up in my email, I have programs for spam that don't stop them?
Mark the porn emails as spam, your spam filter will then be trained to send emails like those to the spam folder, also block their addresses.
Reply:Stop visiting porn sites. That should do it.
Reply:You should be able to block them or report them as junk by clicking a button if you're with Hotmail. Yahoo should have the same thing. I know it has a block option.

You should also read the subject or who it's from for clues on what the e-mail might be (that's what I do).

However, sometime dodgey companies keep changing their email so blocking doesn't work. I had this problem and had to end up getting a new account, which was really annoying.
Reply:From Yahoo Mail Help Page:

Can I block junk mail with filters?

You can, but this only works if you're getting multiple messages from the same source. Are you?

If so, yes. Set up a filter! Click Options in the upper-right corner of the page and select Mail Options, then click Filters from the list on the left. Put the address you don't want any more mail from into the "From:" field of the Add Filter set-up. Then, in the final field鈥?quot;Move the message to:"鈥攕elect Trash.

The best way to block random junk mail鈥攕pam鈥攁rriving in your Inbox from multiple addresses is to use Yahoo! Mail's powerful SpamGuard protection. Make sure it's activated by clicking Options in the upper-right corner of your Mail page and selecting Mail Options. Click Spam from the list on the left, and look for a check in the box beside "Control SpamGuard".
Reply:never open them %26amp; after a time(long) they will stop

What happens when you reply to a spam email...?
Yeah, I know what you mean. It's very tempting to tell those people off. Unfortunately, everybody else who has answered is correct, I can add you should not even open the email, just delete the garbage. If you even open the letter, It will just open up the gates of hell for the spam to flow.

ps.What you can do to control the spam a bit is by going into the "OPTIONS" section in your mail box, then click "FILTERS". This gives you a way of stopping the spam by blocking emails with certain key words for instance. I block anything with the word lottery in the subject. You can put up to 15 filters on the normal Yahoo, it works pretty well..

Most use a send address just once to send a batch of junk then move on to a new address. This is to avoid being traced.

In the event that your reply does reach them, it only proves that you exist and your e-mail address reaches a live person. They then sell your address to 10,000 more spammers

SPAM is in the eye of the receiver. But a personal email like this would not ordinarily be out of line. It may not be accepted well, but you know that.
Reply:From my experience, spam e-mail/junk mail could be e-mail that is sent repeatadly, whether it is the exact same message or from the same person/people. It is usually usually about signing up for something or just an/some annoying pointless message(s) that is/are clogging up your inbox.

If you're just letting a company know about your business and you're only sending the e-mail once, not 20 times every week, it should be fine.

I wouldn't worry about it.

why is my email getting these spam emails if i never visited a porn site in my life? and how do i stop it?

I keep getting spam in my email from porn sites and i have never visited a porn site?
Hi it's a problem we all have. The only solution I have found is to have a seperate e-mail address which I only give to trusted contacts. I change this every so often. It stops the spam for a while at least. I If you allow e-mail on Yahoo answers anyone can get your address. Good luck and hope this helps.

Is it good to empty out the spam box in your email or just leave the spam in there?

I always empty mine, it just takes up space.

Is it good to empty out the spam box in your email or just leave the spam in there?
I leave it in there, but my wife empties it out every day. I know it gets cleared out on its own, so I've learned to ignore it but she like to have everything neat and tidy.
Reply:Due to Yahoo recently removing the storage limits on email accounts there is no real reason to empty it.

The only reason would be if having the number in your sidebar somehow bothers you. I know people that it bothers and some that it doesn't. If you're fine with it there then you can just wait for the bulk mail to delete itself within a month automatically.

How can I stop the porno SPAM? Should I change my yahoo email address?
NEVER under any circumstances EVER click on the unsubscribe link in one of those or any other Spam type email, all your doing is letting them know they have found a real active email address and you will just end up getting spamed even worse!!!!!

If you notice that the spam is coming from the same email address you can just add that email to your block addresses list.

You can access your block address list by clicking on Options then on Mail Options and then Block Addresses.

You can either add the whole email address or you can add a domain name. Just remember if you add a domain name you will NOT receive any more emails from that domain. So I suggest you Don't add a domain like yahoo. com or Hotmail.com as you will block all emails from yahoo and hotmail.

Spam from those domain's are best just marked as Spam and then deleted. Plus you could report them to yahoo and hotmail if your that energetic? lol
Reply:scroll to the bottom of the spam page and some where there will be an unsubscribe button click it and follow the instructions. You might have to do it for a while to get them all but it should work. good luck.

How do i add an email address to a spam list?

How do i add an email address to a spam list?
The spammers do quite nicely without any help from you. If he never posts his e-mail address anywhere, it may well be impervious to spam. I have several that are tightly controlled and have never received a piece of spam. If you can figure out what they are, feel free to spam me all you want!
Reply:someone is always aking an email question and you never say what you use for email. every program and web-based email is different. never be vague if you want good help.

Spam email why am i seeing non spam email going into the spam box for ?

The filters can show false positives.

If you want those emails, mark them as not spam and add the sender to your address book.

You can also contact the sender, if you trust them and tell them that your email provider thinks they are spammers. They can then modify their practices to avoid getting caught out.

Spam email why am i seeing non spam email going into the spam box for ?
In my experience, the 'spam filter' works pretty well. Almost all of the emails I would consider to be 'junk' go into the spam mailbox. Occasionally, a 'junk' email gets through, but usually I can see how that happened from the name of the sender. Only twice in my email life -- like maybe 5 years -- have real emails gone into the spam box. I was unable to figure out why, as both were folks I emailed back and forth with all the time. I always check my spam senders before deleting -- just to be sure that there isn't a 'real' email in there!
Reply:If you have your spam protection set up, you must have a contacts in your address book that you wish to receive Email from. If they are not in there, they are considered Spam.
Reply:You have to click "No spam".. after doi ng that messages sent from that server will go to Inbox folder.. If spam messages are in the Inbox folder.. click "spam" button above the message.

How to determine if email is spam and if spam, how do they get information?

Spam is any message that's sent to multiple recipients who haven't specifically requested the message. In other words, spam is crap.

Spammers typically purchase or harvest a list of email addresses. They send messages from numerous different addresses to all areas of the Web. These messages tend to be "forged," to hide who actually sent them.

Where ever your email address is seen. Like signing up for things, blogs, groups, bulletins , wanted ads, chatting, emails, surveys, purchases, etc .

How do i mark an email as spam, permanently?

when i check a box and delete an email as spam, i would not like to receive an email from this sender again. but yahoo continues to deliver email from the sender. is there a way to mark the sender as spam and not receive email from that sender again?

How do i mark an email as spam, permanently?
Yes. Click the Spam button on the navigation bar of your inbox. Future messages from the sender will end up in the spam folder. The folder will automatically delete the messages after a certain period of time. Don't unsubscribe mail from the sender because this will confirm to them it's an active email address. Hope this helps.
Reply:on the bottom of that certain email you can click "unsubscribe" click it to take your email address of their list

How do I stop all spam email?

It is impossible to stop it. However you can get an email filter that works well and then you never get any of it, which effectively stops it completely.

There are several filters out there, like Postini, Total Mail Defense and more so you should look into that.

Reply:Do not open spam, put in the spam or junk folder without opening it. Most spam today has a notifier attached that alerts the spamer that yours is a active email address when you open one of their spam mails. If you do not open any spam mail after a while they will think yours is an inactive email address and quit sending you spam.

My spam mail has been reduced by 98% I once got 50 or 60 spam mails a day now i get 1 or 2 a day.

How can I unmark my email name as spam?

Lately all my friends have been getting my email in their yahoo spam box. And whenever I try to send any email, I have to type in that friggan annoying verification code EVERY time. I never send out junk mail to people so im not sure why its doing this. How do I fix this?

How can I unmark my email name as spam?
It is possible to use fake email address to send spams. It is possible that your email address used by spammers. Worse than that your Yahoo ID was phished and somebody else knows your email password. I would say contact to yahoo customer service.

How do I undo marking yahoo answers email as spam?

I did it awhile ago, and now, I want to udo it.

How do I undo marking yahoo answers email as spam?
Don't worry everything that is technology has a solution to the problem. Here please follow my easy steps.

Don't worry! This is easy to fix. When you clicked "Spam," the message went into your Spam folder.

1. Open the Spam folder by clicking it in the folder list on the left of the page

2. Click the message that you marked spam by mistake.

3. Click the "Not Spam" button along the top of the window.

Done! Ahhhh, sigh of relief :)
Reply:you go into a yahoo answers email in you bulk folder and click on that button that says "not spam" you can do that to all emails that you want to mark not spam.
Reply:You should be able to "unblock" them from your list, if this is what you've done, or else click on them in your "Bulk Folder" and move to your inbox. This should hopefully mean that next time, it will recognise that the sender isn't a spammer.
Reply:Well, now I can't believe a level seven could be so wrong.

When you mark mail in your inbox as spam it is deleted and goes to the Trash folder with the rest of your deleted mail. Moreover, the sender is blocked from sending you any more mail.

Open Mail, click on Options at the upper right. Go to Blocked addresses, a list of all blocked addresses will appear. find the one you want, right click and underneath click Unblock.

Where and how do companies get my email address that send me spam and viruses?

every other day it's from someone else. I block the email address, but they change it. Is there a way to block them completely or request them not to use my e-mail anymore?

Where and how do companies get my email address that send me spam and viruses?
Don't register your e-mail account with anyone. Lots of companies tempt you with awards and prizes to register, then they sell your information to unscrupulous spammers. Avoid unseemly websites that secretly load malware, or spyware on your computer to get your information. Don't put up your e-mail address on any websites. Spam-bots cruise the Internet looking for them to add to their database. Don't send them mail requesting to be removed, they will simply confirm a valid e-mail address and pound it even harder! Good luck.

When you visit "certain" websites! If you know what i mean....

..................

They use keylogger to capture you email address and password. Probably spywares. Once your email address being captured by them there will sell this to every single advertising company to make profit. Thats how you got different senders everytime.
Reply:Your email address is collected by certain sites, the ones that make you sign up to use their page.. you know the ones. Also if you post online, or buy things online.. its pretty horrible, but what many companies do is SELL the collected email addresses to companies that send out spam.

DO NOT REPLY TO ANY OF THEM.

If you reply saying you want off the list, they will know they have a LIVE email address, meaning an active email address that is in use, which in turn will result in even more spam your way.

Your best bet.. Make sure you got your spam filter, or bulk folder (Yahoo!) up and running and grin and bear it till it dies down, which it may.

If it has gotten out of hand, you may want to trash that email address all together and start fresh, although using the former as the NEW spam address.

Good Luck
Reply:well, some websites actually sell your information (like your e-mail address) to spamming companies :)
Reply:Yahoo Mail has a very good email blocker. Options, Spam.. and turn it on.

Or you will need to contact your ISP to get instruction on how to stop spam.

How do people hijack your email address to make virus-filled spam look like it's coming from you?

I have a website and this is happening to me. Someone is sending viruses around and it has my email in the sender line and when people reply to the spam, it comes back to me. Are they using a program to do this or what?

How do people hijack your email address to make virus-filled spam look like it's coming from you?
Email has no built-in verification of who is sending it. This means that any person can send an email that appears to come from any address. No special tools are needed, just basic knowledge of email headers.
Reply:your website with email link was pharmed for a valid email, and thy got it using pharfming tools and or web crawlers that seek out valid emails on valid domains, similar to freaking in the phone hacking community and body with a semi visible web page on a decent ISP can be pharmed for email addresses.
Reply:You could have a virus that does this. They are programmed to get into your address book or contact list and then send emails to everyone in there. The email contains some message like you found a cool site and they should check it out. There will be a link in the email and when they click on it the virus is downloaded into their computer. This can also be done using attachments like photos. The infecting virus is in the photo attachment.

This happened a few months ago when a Trojan Horse Virus that got on peoples computer due to a weakness in Java Update 6 that allowed the Trojan into some peoples computers. Then the Trojan was programed to attack Yahoo email system. It did what I described above.

Run your anti-virus and anti-spyware scans.

Make sure you have the latest version of Java:

http://www.filehippo.com/download_java_r...
Reply:Part of the problem could be your own website or older PayPal links. A lot of people put their email addresses on their website such as a "Contact Us" page.

Spammers then use bots to go through and look for entries containing an "@" such as jim@mydomain.com and evaluate whether it's a valid email address.

A similar approach is used in bulletin boards and forums where the bots look for user postings.

Even if neither of the above two items are the cause, they can do a dictionary attack against your domain. These programs will take the domain such as "mydomain.com" and the prepend names in front such as adam@mydomain.com, aaron@mydomain.com and so on.

Other spammers will try to query against your mail server for valid addresses.

If you want to know more, you can try the guide below.

My settings are at the highest level and I've blocked unwanted senders.

How can I keep spam out of my email when my settings are at the highest level ?
"Where there's a will, there's a way."

You can only try to keep it down, but I haven't heard of any way to prevent SPAM 100%.
Reply:You can't. If you have an email address, sooner or later you will get spam. Spam is addressed and sent out by the thousands. At the risk of opening one, look at the headers and your "name". Just change one letter, or add one letter, and this whole thing goes out again. That's why spammers are able to get past filters. The ONLY way to avoid spam is not to have an email address. Experts are predicting 2007 will be the worst year ever for spam. Buckle your seat belt and hit the spam button.
Reply:It is virtually impossible to prevent ANY spam from getting into your mailbox. Everyone gets some. According to anti-spam experts, users actually make the problem a whole lot worse for themselves simply by opening spam mail. The advice is to NEVER, under any circumstances, open emails from anybody you don't know. NEVER.

Yahoo thinks my email address is spam. How do I fix this?

I work at a law firm and we have several clients who use yahoo email accounts. It has recently come to my attention that yahoo considers our domain to be spam (we have our own domain). How do I get yahoo to recognize our domain as being legitimate without asking each individual client to adjust the settings in their mailbox?

Yahoo thinks my email address is spam. How do I fix this?
Many times spammers just get a new webhost, spam the heck out of thousands of people, and by the time the webhosting companies relize it it's too late. They cancel that account and buy a new one with their masses in profit.

The hosting companies dont care about you, so they just throw the IP on the next person to buy the hosting plan. You can find out if your IP is on a spam list here:

http://www.dnsstuff.com/

In general just switch IPs and setup the mmx settings with your host
Reply:Have your webmaster contact Yahoo to see if you can have their spamcop remove your domain from their spamcheck.

Also -- it could be caused by something that you have within your email that looks to Yahoos spam cop like it 'could' be something evil. I've seen attachments like contact information from MSFT Outlook get flagged as potential spam. Try what I wrote up above, it's worked for me in the past with places like Juno and even with Hotmail.
