I'm beginning to see a great deal of spam coming from Yahoo email addresses. In some cases, the spam note indicates that the Yahoo email address which forwarded the spam was "previously blocked." If it was previously blocked. how the heck did it get to my Inbox ?
If a spam email address is blocked, how does it still turn up in my Inbox ?
Because 1) spammers are cunning and relentless, and 2) spam filters can never be 100% effective.
Reply:Spammers don't use the same email address twice for sending out their junk mails. The mails may look the same, but they each come from a different address. That's why the spam blocker can't catch them. If you see commonly used words in the subject lines, you can create your own filters (Options %26gt; Filters) to automatically get rid of emails that contain those words. I have filters that look for "lottery" and "winner", and find it goes a long way to keeping the spam at manageable levels.

My publicity email turned to spam. How can I fix this?
Because of the need to advertise one of the products of the company I work for, I had to send nearly a hundred emails (all of our customers) from my work account. The problem is, now I am getting feedback saying that my email address and the company's domain was treated as spam. How can I fix this so we can continue sending emails to our customers?
Please note this is not massive mail meant to be spam, but actual publicity of our products being sent to customers actually paying us for other services.

If you have a spam folder , look for the mail, and mark it again as "Not spam"
If you just don't have a spam folder then the mail is gone! if you know the sender ask them to resend it , of course after you have changed the preferences!

But I'm sure I can help you with your particular problem. I'll explain it explicitly and in simple terms:
Yahoo does have Spam Block and it's free. There are several provisions for spam block. Go to mail options, found on the extreme right of the yahoo mail page. Under General Preferences, look for Special Folders. Check the box that says sent messages will be send to your sent folder and that unsolicited mail or suspected spam will go to your bulk folder. And Under Spam Protection, turn Spam guard on, and mark the box to immediately delete these messages upon receipt. Or you can choose to save messages for 1 month, the longest.
Under marking Spam and not Spam. Check the box that upon marking, the message will be deleted immediately and the sender's e-mail address to be added to the blocked addresses list. Then you can check the box that when you mark a message in the Bulk Folder as not spam, move message to inbox. And you can choose to block images in the messages.
You can check your block addresses list under two headings. One is under the the block address in this mail option. You can add manually the e-mail of this unwanted contact. The other section to view your blocked addresses list is under the spam. This is located on the e-mail message itself. Spam comes after Forward (you'll find delete, reply, forward then Spam).
After manually marking that particular unwanted, pestering and annoying e-mail. his e-mail address will automatically be added to the blocked addresses list. In here,is the option to view that list. Make sure his e-mail address is there. He might use an altenate e-mail address. You can either add, unblock and update your list. Do not just delete it.AS this will not solve the problem. Do not unsubscribe for any telemarketer ads, they'll just send you more now that they are sure of your e-mail address. Again,I stress that you have to mark it manually. But if you accomplish the provided prior guidelines, you should not have to do this manually. It should all be accomplsihed automatically for you.
Another way to ensure that you don't receive these spam. Go to My Account and locate Edit
Marketing Preferences. Do not check any of those boxes. This exhibits your various interests and give them cart blanc permission to send you more irritating spam.
There's a final drastic solution to undertake to avoid spam. In your Bulk Folder, turn Spam Guard on and mark the box to delete all spam immediately upon receipt even before you get a chance to review them. This way, your Bulk Folder will stay empty. Hi, you do not need to contact anyone to have this reversed. You can do it yourself.
Just follow these steps:
1.) Go to OPTIONS
2.) From the drop down menu choose MAIL OPTIONS
3.) On the next page choose SPAM on the left side of the page
4.) Go to the blocked senders list and find the email address that you want to remove and click on it
5.) When the address is highlighted click the REMOVE button on the right side of the box
6.) When you're finished click SAVE CHANGES at the top of the screen

I had similar experience. After getting advice off Answers, I closed my email account, set up three new accounts, each for seperate purposes - online shopping, work stuff and keeping in touch with friends. I also made a printed list of my contacts, as well as having lists in my accounts. I made all my passwords much more secure and change them regularly. I now only get spam on my online shopping address.
I had trouble persuading Yahoo that the account was mine in order to close it, but when several friends reported spam email to Yahoo from my address that helped get things moving.
Incidently I also set up a one-off account to email the scammer at my own address and asked him to pack it in, as I was an old lady and it was all too much of a hassle for me. He emailed back and said Sorry!
Reply:This is one of many tricks the spammers use. They put your return address on the mail, but there will also be a return envelope address for all the mails sent with it. Sending a copy of the full header along with a copy of the email to the abuse department at your mail provider may get them stopped. Otherwise there is nothing else you can do.

All thats happened is that someone has got hold of your email address and is sending out emails as though they are from you to prevent the messages getting blocked. Unfortunately it's not too difficult to make the email appear to be from your outbox even though it's not.

I think someone is using my email address to send spam?
I keep getting Mail undelivered notifications and the emails look like they are something to do with watches. I don't want to change my email address because I'm attached to it and I have it printed on business cards. Can I do anything about it or will the problem sort itself out?

Depends what email server you use. You can go into your emails spam filter settings and for example, it might say delete/block/'move to folder' all emails with name/subjectheading/from address etc.. hope this helps, you can do it hotmail, yahoo and gmail

How do I stop porno emails from showing up in my email, I have programs for spam that don't stop them?
I have spam blockers and spy sweeper, etc. but these emails continue to show up in my email. I am hoping that there is someway to completely stop them. Please let me know if anyone knows of anything I can do to stop them. Thanks in advance.

Mark the porn emails as spam, your spam filter will then be trained to send emails like those to the spam folder, also block their addresses.

You could always block people not on your contacts on verizon...Block the "restricted calls"

Samsung do in the uk, my G600 lets me block numbers from either calling or texting me if i put the number on the reject setting and its a great feature that all mobile manufactures should have.

What happens when you reply to a spam email...?

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's very tempting to tell those people off. Unfortunately, everybody else who has answered is correct, I can add you should not even open the email, just delete the garbage. If you even open the letter, It will just open up the gates of hell for the spam to flow.
ps.What you can do to control the spam a bit is by going into the "OPTIONS" section in your mail box, then click "FILTERS". This gives you a way of stopping the spam by blocking emails with certain key words for instance. I block anything with the word lottery in the subject. You can put up to 15 filters on the normal Yahoo, it works pretty well..

I had two from Nigeria once in the same day. First was to say I had won a lottery, millions rather than just 拢's. Obviously checking that I couldnt spend it straight away, they sent another one to say that I had ordered some construction work to be done, and they had now completed, and could i pay.
So I sent back %26amp; said, basically, ''look, just pay the construction bill out of the lottery winnings, give the rest to a charity of your choice and fuddle off and leave me alone, you morons!''
Nothing happened. They didnt even reply to thank me for my generosity to their chosen charity fund...

though is not illegal u can still use near illegal ways to counter it....instead of paying people to email everyone they just make a computer do it for them....best thing to do is fight fire with fire, since its always online it gets emails weather or not it has it on or not but u might have to go around it blocking all mail... so wrte up a spammer or get one like n e where on the internet and spam the computer right back eventualy it will freeze and since no one know what there doing it they will just leave the computer there and no more spam from him... if not u can easily make ur own smtp using program and make ur own email service its really not that hard...i have one... and no one can spam u because to them u dont exist....or u can just use yahoo mail since it has the best spam blocker on the net.....i hate google

Samsung do in the uk, my G600 lets me block numbers from either calling or texting me if i put the number on the reject setting and its a great feature that all mobile manufactures should have.

Most spam today has a notifier attached that alerts the spamer that yours is a active email address when you open one of their spam mails. If you do not open any spam mail after a while they will think yours is an inactive email address and quit sending you spam.
My spam mail has been reduced by 98% I once got 50 or 60 spam mails a day now i get 1 or 2 a day.

First, try not to open any of them, that only makes them send more and more to you.
Check mark them and click on 'Spam,' this should stop those addresses from being delivered to your inbox.
Use your spam filter and block address.

make sure spam guard is on, click on save changes

Enter the E-mail address you wish blocked and click on 'add block'
you will never get mail from that address again.

Don't worry! This is easy to fix. When you clicked "Spam," the message went into your Spam folder.
1. Open the Spam folder by clicking it in the folder list on the left of the page
2. Click the message that you marked spam by mistake.
3. Click the "Not Spam" button along the top of the window.

Your best bet.. Make sure you got your spam filter, or bulk folder (Yahoo!) up and running and grin and bear it till it dies down, which it may.
If it has gotten out of hand, you may want to trash that email address all together and start fresh, although using the former as the NEW spam address.

Reply:your website with email link was pharmed for a valid email, and thy got it using pharfming tools and or web crawlers that seek out valid emails on valid domains, similar to freaking in the phone hacking community and body with a semi visible web page on a decent ISP can be pharmed for email addresses.

The email contains some message like you found a cool site and they should check it out. There will be a link in the email and when they click on it the virus is downloaded into their computer. This can also be done using attachments like photos. The infecting virus is in the photo attachment.
This happened a few months ago when a Trojan Horse Virus that got on peoples computer due to a weakness in Java Update 6 that allowed the Trojan into some peoples computers. Then the Trojan was programed to attack Yahoo email system. It did what I described above.
Run your anti-virus and anti-spyware scans.
