How can I stop email spam?

How can I stop this one outfit from sending me 5 to 10 emails aday of spam in my inbox even after I've spent two weeks trying to get them to stop, thay even emailed me saying thay would, but did not.

How can I stop email spam?
Turn your 'SpamGuard' on and/or manually place the address on your 'Blocked Addresses' list. You have to turn your 'SpamGuard' on and change the settings within to auto block and delete addresses when you hit the 'Spam' button. This will teach your spam filter to recognize most junk mail and your spam will reduce over a short period of time.

------------

To turn 'SpamGuard' on:

1. Go to your email box.

2. Click 'Options' (upper right, horizontal list of options, blue letters).

3. Click 'Spam Protection' (first column, under 'Spam', blue letters).

4. In the 'Spam Filter' section:

(a. Click '[Turn SpamGuard On]'

(b. Check the:

'O Immediately delete these messages upon receipt.

NOTE: Sometimes SpamGuard may treat a valid email message as spam and deliver it to the Bulk folder. If you select the "delete immediately" option, you won't have a chance to review the messages in your Bulk folder before Yahoo! Mail deletes them.

Or check the:

'O Save these messages in the Bulk Folder for [1 week[v] - [2 weeks[v] - [1 month[v]'

5. In the 'Mark Spam + Not Spam' section:

Under the 'When I mark a message as Spam, in addition to deleting the message:'

Check the box:

'[/] Add the sender's email address to my blocked addresses list'

6. Click the 'Save Changes' button (below the 'Mail' tab).

Using SpamGuard Visual Tutorial

--------

To 'Block Addresses':

1. Go to your email box.

2. Click 'Options' (upper right, horizontal list of options, blue letters).

3. Click 'Block Addresses' (first column, under 'Spam').

4. Under 'Add Block':

Type the email address in the:

'Enter email address (or domain) to block: [___________]' input field.

5. Click on the 'Add Block' button.

Blocked addresses are email addresses that you do not want to receive any mail from. Incoming mail from these addresses will be automatically disposed of, without bouncing back to the sender. When you remove an address from your Blocked Addresses list, you will once again be able to receive mail from that address.
Reply:I suspect you actually created the monster yourself without realising it. When you open a spam mail, you could be triggering an alert to the spammers that you have an active email address. This will certainly result in TONS of spam mail in the future. Another issue is replying to such mails. Even legitimate companies are reluctant to remove people from their subscription lists because it is an effective way of keeping their name and advertising in front of the public. However, we must all be really careful how we handle all spam/junk messages that arrive, whether in the Inbox or in the Bulk folder...

1. Spam mails that go straight to Bulk should be left there. You can empty the Bulk folder any time you want, but never NEVER open spam mails.

2. Spam mails that land in your Inbox should be marked as Spam so that they are moved to Bulk and placed on the Blocked list. (Blocking an address prevents mails from being received from that address again in the future.)

3. Any email that you are the least bit suspicious about should be deleted immediately. Don't let curiosity get the better of you. Simply opening a spam email out of curiosity could alert the spammers that you have an active email address (they probably didn't know it before), to which they will most certainly send TONS of spam mail in the future.

I accidentally sent a regular email that I get to spam. How do I fix this? How can I retreive the email?

I basically just hit the wrong button. But I need to keep getting this email on a weekly basis. I also need to retreive this email if I can.

I accidentally sent a regular email that I get to spam. How do I fix this? How can I retreive the email?
Don't worry! This is easy to fix. When you clicked "Spam," the message went into your Spam folder.

1. Open the Spam folder by clicking it in the folder list on the left of the page

2. Click the message that you marked spam by mistake.

3. Click the "Not Spam" button along the top of the window.

Done! Ahhhh, sigh of relief.

When sending an email, is there any way to ensure it is not marked as spam in recipients mailbox?

I'm trying to get a hold of someone by email, but I'm afraid she may not have my address (it's changed), which may be putting in her spam box. If she's like me, I usually just empty the entire spam folder without going through it. HELP!

When sending an email, is there any way to ensure it is not marked as spam in recipients mailbox?
nope but if you just send a plain email

no taglines, signatures etc it should be going to her inbox

unless she has a real touchy spambot.

just type something like Hi ... her name here ...

then say I am trying to reach you - hit me up

or something like that

don't use words like free - new - etc ... as they can be spambot triggers

if just a short email like that, it should not be going to spam
Reply:The easiest way would probably be to tell her to check for spam box for a certain message before deleting it. If you can only reach her by mail I suggest that you try sending her a mail from another account of yours or to another account of hers. Who ends up in someone's spam box is all up to the reciever, I'm afraid :-)

I recently had spyware installed and now I have more spam than ever before in my email ?

It is showing up -not in bulk- but under my email address .What can I do to stop all this junk ?

I recently had spyware installed and now I have more spam than ever before in my email ?
Unfortunately, it appears that the spammers have found your e-mail address. I can think of three things you can do.

1) Change your e-mail address. This is a real pain because you have to notify everyone that you want to have your correct address of the change.

2) Use some sort of SPAM filtering. This is a good idea anyway. Many ISPs offer this. It may take a bit to get the filter set the way you like it, but in the long run it's worth it.

3) Live with the problem.
Reply:ur spyware is spying you.
Reply:Amy,

Was that one of those free spyware programs you downloaded off the internet?

If it was, probably, it is nothing more than a spambot and you will get inundated with garbage.

You need to remove it ASAP. Probably you should use Norton to do it since it can be difficult.
Reply:Not much you can but filter all the junk email out of your inbox.

In the future when you get a spam do not click on any links that say to unsubscribe from their mailing list. When you click on those unsubscribe links that is what helps the spammers know they hit a active email address and then they will send more spam.

How someone can send spam mails with my email ID?

I saw my email ID is used to spam. But the mails are not sent from my email. Only the ID is same. How is it possible?

How someone can send spam mails with my email ID?
It's called "Spoofing."

Email spoofing is the act of forging the header information on an email so that it appears to have originated from somewhere other than its true source. The protocol used for email, SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol), does not have any authentication to verify the source. By changing the header information someone can make the email appear to come from whoever they choose.

Email spoofing is used by virus authors. By propagating a virus with a spoofed email source it is more difficult for users who receive the virus to track its source to stop the virus. Email spoofing is also used by distributors of spam to hide their identity.

Oh, and still to this day it's pretty easy to do!
Reply:Its possible cuz all it takes is a Spam Bot program to do it, using any annonomous name/email addy.
Reply:you have a hacker. change your password every.2. days and they will get tired of doing this i have haad this done to me on different occations myself. ?
Reply:It is possible to do this. I'm not sure how much you will understand but anyway I will say how it can be done.

1) You can use a pop server of some internet service provider who doesn't need authentication to send mail.

2) You can setup your own mail server in your computer and send mail programatically. This is very simple if you know a little bit of programming
Reply:Virus. They Can Do That.

Put up a page containing the email addresses of your bigwig representatives (you know, the ones in Congress and such that have the power to get anti-spam legislation passed) and link this from your main page. Make it a point to make these pages easy for the harvester to find. Alternatively, throw on a few addresses from government anti-fraud divisions, the CIA, etc (the humourless tie-wearing guys who like to PROSECUTE), to make sure those MLM offers and Ponzi schemes are barking up ALL the right trees.

My email address is being used to send spam mail?

spam mail is coming from my own email address, my provider told me just to delete it. Can some explain to me how to stop them using my email address.

My email address is being used to send spam mail?
Try changing your password before you delete it. By doing that it may stop. Some one has "phished" your password and you should just be able to change it and it be okay.
Reply:Unfortunately there is currently no rules about protecting an address to be used as a from.

It is very easy to fake a from address in your email program and make it look like it is coming from anyone. You don't have to hack into another's email account to send an email (only to see what they get in).

You can filter out the spam so you don't get it in your inbox.
Reply:what ever mail exchange server you are using all of them provide you to automatic removel of spam. and also if you are thinking that they are coming into your inbox then send it to spam which will automatically transfer the forthcomming email from this message to spam and then it automatically deleted for more information on what is spam and how it can be send follow the link
Reply:Your email has been hacked. Change your password and in your address book, make a fake address such as AAbbcc5566@yahoo.com and if some one hacks again, that mail shall return as undeliverable and you will be made aware.

check for virus/spyware on your PC that might be grabbing passwords as you type them. Then, change your password once you know that there is no virus or spyware grabbing it.

If that does not fix it, it is entirely possible that they are not actually sending it from your account. It is very easy to make an email appear to come from any address. If possible, have someone that is receiving this spam from "you" work with their system admin to try to track down the real source of the mail. They can look more closely at it and often find out where it really came from, and contact the service provider to report the abuse

If you open the email from the bulk folder at the top should be a button that says 'not spam'. Also, if you add the sender to your address book it will not be spam.

Does forwarding spam to an email administrator perpetuate the issue?

A friend received a spam email from himself in his inbox. I often wondered if malicious code could be in an email and make things worse by forwarding the email on to someone else or even an email administrator alerting them of this problem. This doesn't necesarily apply only to a Yahoo email account.

Does forwarding spam to an email administrator perpetuate the issue?
In any program---when you forward any item, you first have to open it---and that's the problem.

With Spam---just opening it triggers an alert to the spammers that they have found a valid and responsive address. They then flood you with more---AND---also sell that address to their cronies, who jump on the band wagon.
Reply:Use spam cop.

How do the people who send 'Spam' get hold of your email address?

I am getting loads of these every single day! I don't open them and hit the spam button on my Yahoo account, but there is just no stopping them!! Any ideas? Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer this!! 5 stars too.

How do the people who send 'Spam' get hold of your email address?
many companies sell your email address on to other companies, the spam gets sent out to random email addresses and once u've opened one email the sender knows it's a working address so passes it around so other companies can use it.
Reply:If you send out an email to a non-existent address, it bounces back to you. It's quite easy to write a program that fires off emails to every combination of letters and numbers @yahoo.co.uk and notes which ones don't bounce back. You've then got a mailing list you can sell to the spammers.
Reply:I've heard that spammers lift addresses from all those chain emails that fly about. Don't reply to them or pass any on! Keep SpamGuard on your Yahoo mailbox - empty the bulk folder without opening any messages.
Reply:i think it is when we give someone say a third party our email address such as a dating service they sell our details onto these spammers, and they send us emails
Reply:There are countless ways in which spammers can obtain your email address. I think you're fighting a losing battle here-once spam is coming to your inbox that frequently, there's no way of stopping it. My advice would be to change your email, and read up on tips on how to avoid spam.

Good luck.

How to stop spam in my yahoo email?

I get tons of spam in my yahoo email account. How do I stop it?

How to stop spam in my yahoo email?
How to fight spam and scams:

#1: Yahoo has a spamguard filter, but only if multiple users report an address as spam will it be treated as such by the filter.

You have a personal list for blocking addresses in spam options. Anything you mark as spam in Mail classic will be added to that list, in New Yahoo mail adding addresses to the list has to be done manually. If you ever receive anything from those addresses in the future, it will be deleted automatically, you won't even notice when you got some more crap from them. One problem though: the list of blocked addresses is limited to 500 and spammers often change their address. So you must sometimes delete some of the older blocked addresses to make room for new ones.

Go to this link where everything is explained in detail:

http://help.yahoo.com/us/tutorials/mail/...

#2: The Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc.gov) is supposed to help you eliminate spam mails. Forward spam to: spam@uce.gov, in the subject line enter something like "unsubscribe link results in more spam", "unwanted spam message", "no unsubscribe link" or something similar.

When the FTC gets your mail, they will look into the matter and when they find out who the spamming source is, they will take legal actions.

http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/edcams/sp...

#3: Check Mailwasher, it helps to eliminate spam from your inbox...

Set up your email account(s) in MailWasher and hit the "Check Mail" button. It then downloads all new message headers and displays message details alongside each one (priority, subject, from, to, etc.). Any email that MailWasher considers to be spam is highlighted for easy sorting.

Two checkboxes are located next to each message header: "Delete" and "Bounce". If you click "Delete" the email will be marked for deletion, click "Bounce" and the mail will be marked for bouncing - a fake "address not found" email will be sent to the sender. Once you have decided what to bounce and delete, click "Process Mail" to get it done and your mail client launched for downloading all accepted emails.

MailWasher has a "blacklist" and a "friends list" to enter good and bad email addresses. Addresses in the blacklist are marked for deletion, and addresses in the friends list will be marked as okay. Filters can be set to increase MailWasher's effectiveness. You can have email addressed to "undisclosed recipients" automatically deleted and bounced for example.

Note: the program is free but limited to one email account. MW Pro supports multiple mail accounts.

http://www.mailwasher.net/
Reply:Get a new email account and only give it to family or friends.

Use the spammy one whenever a website asks for your email addy for anything, even if they tell you it'll be kept private.
Reply:You will need to turn on the spam blocker. Just go into the yahoo email settings and look for it. If you need extra help check out my blog @ http://fcs4u.blogspot.com/

Just mark this message as "spam". Next time your spam guard will send all messages from this sender to "bulk" folder or to "trash" depending on what e-mail program you use. Don't click any links that are inside of those e-mails.

I honestly think you are naive, no offence. If you have an e-mail address for more than say a year it is considered normal to receive this kind of messages.

How to handle a "spam oops".

With Classic Mail, when you spam something---that email is deleted and the sender blocked.

You would have to unblock them.

Mail page%26gt;%26gt;options (top right)%26gt;%26gt;block addresses. Find that address on the blocked list---click on it---click "remove block, and you will get their mail again.

(you can't recover what was deleted)

With the "All-New Mail, when you spam it----the sender is NOT blocked, but future emails from them will likely go to your "Spam" folder---in which case, you will have to open that mail and then click the "not spam" tab. They will then be sent to your inbox again..
Reply:Check in 'trash' folder immediately. If it is still there ,you can retrieve it.
Reply:Seems odd that you would spam it.

Most of these spam mails I got are mostly African sob story about mistreatment from their government but with s**t load of money waiting to be transfer out the country.

How do I deal with spam emails I have been receiving in my yahoo email, any effective suggestion welcome?
Yahoo sadly cannot do anything about these scams. The messages come from computers which are taken over by hackers and used for this purpose. It is almost impossible to catch these people. The main thing is for us to be careful not to fall for their scams. Don't answer just delete them Good luck and be careful.

Are there any good spam protector programs that work well for Yahoo email?
1: Yahoo has a spamguard filter, but only if multiple users report an address as spam will it be treated as such by the filter.

#3: Check Iconix, once it is installed, it can easily identify whether a mail is Spam or comes from a trusted site, thus helping you to decide whether to open a mail or not. Mail services supported so far:

Yahoo!Mail

AT%26amp;T Yahoo! Mail

Gmail

Earthlink

AOL Webmail

MSN Hotmail

Windows Live Hotmail

Outlook 2003

Outlook Express 6.0

AIM Webmail

Not supported are other mail services and also not MAC and Linux.

http://iconix.com/corp/

#4: Check Mailwasher, it helps to eliminate spam from your inbox...

Note: the program is free but limited to one email account, and doesn't include Hotmail support.MW Pro supports multiple mail accounts.

Reply:I don't know any and i don't think there is a good spam protector program that work well for Yahoo!mail.

To avoid spam email, I use 2 email addresses: one for register to forums, website... (all your spam email comes from there) and one for my relatives, friends. In my first one, there are thousands of spam emails in my inbox folder and thousands in Bulk folder lol, so many but i don't care.

So be careful, don't give out your real email address. Remember: Don't trust website you don't know, they'll sell you email address. You can trust famous website such as yahoo, msn, ebay.... They can't spam you if they don't know your email address.

Hope my answer could help you.

Same spam always appears at the top of my email?

Everytime I open my yahoo email, there is the same Digital PC advertisement waiting there for me at the top of the pile (in my inbox). I delete it everytime and I never open it but each time, it's still there when I re-open my email account. Is this a virus? How does it always stay on the top? And how do I get rid of it?

Same spam always appears at the top of my email?
It is not necessarily a virus, spammers just have different ways to make their spam appear at the very top or bottom of your messages to arouse your curiosity.

How can I stop Spam Emails that are coming from my own email address?

I'm using MS Outlook 2007 to check my emails and emails are comoing from our Exchange Server 2003.

How can I stop Spam Emails that are coming from my own email address?
It's called "spoofing".

Spoofing is the "forgery" of an address, to hide the identity of the sender, and is usually done by an Automatic Spamming system, that blindly and randomly, runs through addresses in sequence.

It's not actually coming from or thru your account. (see in your sent folder)

One type that's called "Self Spamming"--(go figure)--appears to be coming "from" and going "to" the same address.

Anti-spam experts say----There's nothing you can do, to stop them. Delete them. They are a nuisance, but harmless and don't last long.

Don't spam them--you'd only be spamming your own address.

Some people find temporary relief by blocking their own address----but of course, THEN you won't be able to receive anything you actually do send to yourself.

Why has yahoo email spam filter failed lately?

About the last week the email spam filter has failed on emails that are clearly spam. Was wondering if yahoo email has done something different since the new year.

Why has yahoo email spam filter failed lately?
If the sender was using a valid Yahoo! mail address and not sending bulk, the spam filter won't filter it out until that person has been added to the spam list (and account removed). There are other ways of someone to get past the spam filter, but if you get a lot of spam try clicking on the Options link in the upper right corner of the page. There will be an option there to edit your spam filter and set the level to high to filter out all possible spam.
Reply:I still think its pretty good, but I do agree lately it has been missing a few.

I received spam from my email id. Has someone got my password? Or did they make it appear to be from my id?

The mail is not from a friend who is playing games but from someone trying to sell (fake?) medicines.

I received spam from my email id. Has someone got my password? Or did they make it appear to be from my id?
They probably just used a website like http://fakesend.com to make it look like it was an email you sent yourself. I believe that there is a greater chance of you to open the mail if it shows your email address or your name as the sent from, because many people email themselves.

Who the heck is making and sending all that junk email/spam anyway!?

Don't those people have a life and any self-dignity? Who are these people spreading this crap all over the place?

Who the heck is making and sending all that junk email/spam anyway!?
Individual corporations sending out marketing emails are such a small portion of the spam, that they are almost not worth your time. Most legitimate corporations will remove your email from their list... people just don't bother to get themselves removed because with all the other spam, it doesn't make a lot of difference. There is also the possibility that asking for removal actually verifies your email address, making it more valuable, and more prone to spam because now they know it's a real person. Again, most legitimate corporations are doing responsible email marketing campaigns, and will remove you.

There's probably only 3 large organizations responsible for most of the really bad spam. And they are AMERICANS. Spam is sent out mostly by "botnets", and it doesn't require a lot of work to spam a billion people. That's why spamming is such a big deal thing... because it's easy for one person to abuse the entire internet.

And yes, the people do have a life... they have nice cars and summer homes and so on, and spamming is their business and it does make money. And WE are the problem. If users continue to respond to spam messages, then these jerks will have their nice cars and summer homes for a long time. These guys are organized criminals, whose "crime" isn't actually illegal. They are not to be messed with. One large network was taken out a while back because the owner murdered one of his competitors and is now in jail. It's serious business.

Type your question into Google. Obviously this is one of the biggest problems facing internet users, so there's a ton of information about this question.
Reply:Junk mail is something we all get annoyed of but eventually realize that it wont go away so don't loose any sleep over it

You have to realize that everybody gets them, there are databases containing hundreds and thousands of email addresses.

When i first signed on as a user to hotmail I never got any junkmail but as I started subscribing to websites, newsletters and all that rubbish, I got more and more junk mail so there is definitely a connection there somewhere.

Spam control is built in most email services nowadays. In hotmail you can mark junkmail as junk and it will go straight t the junk folder in the future so you wont have to see it anymore. In yahoo there is a spam button which you can use to indicate what mails are junk and similar mails will be treated as junk in the future hence you wont see it ever again.

Don't sweat it too much, plenty more to worry about in this world than this

most of the spam is generated from china. but this does not mean that the spam generated from there is in chinese or related to china. most of today's developed nations have put strict checks to curb spam and that is why spam too is now being outsourced to destinations where such activities have a less stringent control - china for example.

the spam 'industry' is in itself a million-dollar industry that also caters to swindlers and hackers! its not a certain group though the beneficiaries might be limited.

Reply:Bots.... setup by affiliates for different websites. They get $$ if you visit the site. So they get these massive email lists and have bots send out junk mail to as many people as possible. More emails sent = more links visited = more $$$. Just block the sender. Most of the time the same person is sending you many many different spam messages from just a handful of email accts.
Reply:For many it's just a job and as long as big corporation keep sucking the life out of the working man, you'll get more spam and junk.
Reply:You can think like that, but in reality, they are making money of that. What is spam? It's just commercials like the one we watch on TV. People and companys advertise their products and services. Spammer philosophy is like this: if he sends 50.000 emails, and at least 1% click on link in their email and buy something, that's 500 people! And they send much, much more emails because it does not cost them almost nothing. Acctually, they have to pay programs that collects emails from web-pages, program that sends big amount of emails, mail servers, but that's notnihg comparing to profit they make. Also they trade between each other with email databases (databases with10 or 50 or 100.000 emails), not all of them are working addresses, but if half is - it's good.
Reply:Hackers who want to use your computer and several thousands of other computers to jam corporate networks to the highest bidder. It's all about money.
Reply:Mostly advertisers who want to generate sales in their site. Email spamming is the cheapest form of advertising medium they have.

Someone is using my domain as email spam sender, is there any way to complaint ?

as i said someone abused my domain's mail and he is sending mass emails with it and the content of the email is full of their website's advertises, is there any way available for complaint

Someone is using my domain as email spam sender, is there any way to complaint ?
The critical question is whether he's sending the email from elsewhere and just sticking your address on it, or whether he's actually relaying through your smtp server.

If it's the latter, you have problems. You need to figure out how he's getting in, and you need to lock him out. You can check if you have an open relay at http://www.abuse.net/relay.html . If that's not the problem, check any scripts you have which are capable of sending email (formmail, etc.) and replace them with secure versions not capable of being hijacked like the old formmail is. Your mail and access logs will help a lot with this -- check your access log in particular for calls to that script from outside your domain.

If it's the former, you have different problems. If on one hand it's a "joe job" -- someone deliberately faking you specifically as the bogus sender of a large amount of spam in order to get revenge, etc. -- you will have a better chance of tracking down the origin. Usually people know who they've ticked off. Find him, find his ISP, complain. If on the other hand it's garden-variety spam and you're just a target of opportunity, it's not worth the effort to try to track down the sender. Odds are they're offshore. However, you mentioned that the email is full of their website's "advertises" (advertising?) -- if so, that gives you at least a preliminary target to look into. It might not actually be that guy -- it might be a "joe job" on him, too -- so do some googling for any references to that website and spam before you act. Then, if it is a known spammer and not a forgery to get the site owner in grief, visit www.abuse.net and look up the abuse address for the site's host. Complain to them. If they do nothing, complain to their upstream provider. (a traceroute can help find them)

If it's just a few emails a day, it's probably just a matter of a spammer using one address from his list as "from" in spam being sent to another, so he's got a second shot at getting through if the "to" address rejects it -- the fake "from" address might read it when it bounces. In that case, it's probably not a problem for you (other than an annoyance) because on any complaint, your ISP or web host will look at the headers of the email sent in by the person complaining, realize it never went anywhere near you, and drop the matter accordingly. Abuse departments are not as clueless as they used to be.
Reply:spammer's always do this.

contact your webhost and let them know that they may get complaints about your domain due to a spammer forging your domain as the return or sending address.

they will help you.
Reply:Pass on this information to the sysadmin of the company hosting your domain and he/she will fix things up

Email sent to my YahooGroup is Spam and must be approved by moderator?

Hello,

I've been a member of several Yahoogroups for years now. There's one group I participate in quite a bit and am signed up to receive individual emails. Recently my email replies to the group apparently are being marked as Spam and the moderator has to keep approving them in order for me to participate. She says she keeps marking them as not Spam, but this keeps happening. How can I fix this? It becoming very annoying when I want to have a reply posted in a timely manner.

Thanks

Email sent to my YahooGroup is Spam and must be approved by moderator?
A surefire way for your message to get posted immediately is to sign in to the group online and post your message there. Otherwise, there is nothing that you as a member can do to keep your messages from being caught by the spam filter. You can ask the group owner if she would consider turning off the spam filter. Don't despair - Yahoo is aware of the problem and is working toward a solution. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

You should regularly go to your spam box and see if they emailed you, if they did, go to it and mark it "not spam."

Spam Why Do people in Canada email it to us?

how come people not all. in canada sends us this spam. is there no laws to stop them? i get anything from drugs watches and porn. i say about 95% of spam i get comes from canada. i would never waste my time on clicking on none of it.

Spam Why Do people in Canada email it to us?
Actually Canada is the only G7 country not to have spam laws, it has become an issue for many in that it is hard to get people who have servers there punished. The recent Facebook lawsuit that they won is actually against some Canadian based websites and it is going to be fun for them to get it enforced.

The rest of the G7 countries are going to have to start putting pressure on Canada as they are being forced to try and apply laws across the borders.

Otherwise spam filter companies are going to have to start to use the fact that the email comes from Canada as one of the rules they use to stop email.
Reply:Most of spam email are scams, one way or another they just want your money. The best thing for u to do is just ignore all of those emails and never reply or else you will get your inbox flooded with even more junk. About laws I am not sure I'm guessing there are some but I am not positive.
Reply:Just keep marking it as spam without opening any. And after a while they will think yours is a dead email address and stop.

it's an issue with the spam filer itself of the group, which has always been glitchy. the group owner can turn it off, since it's clear it snags non-spam posts

How can I email 100 people at one time without the message going into a spam box?

I am registrar for a youth camp and need to send out documentation. I have found that my messages have gone into spam boxes, especially on AOL, even though I have created yahoo lists of not more than 25 addresses. It seems that when the lists "open" the message sends as if the addresses were all separate. I am very frustrated - anyone have an answer?

How can I email 100 people at one time without the message going into a spam box?
This is most often done with a program that will spool your email.

You can create the email once, and it will send out 100 individual emails. Spacing the time as neccessary so you're not seen sending out large amounts of email at one time and get blacklisted.

However with only 100 emails you shouldn't have too much of a problem.

You can purchase a program such as Gammadyne mailer for $149.99 (according to their site at: http://www.gammadyne.com/mmail.htm)
Reply:Get them to add you into their address books.
Reply:You can't.
Reply:Unfortunately, with SPAM getting worse, SPAM filters are tightening-up even more, especially on places like AOL since they are a big target for spammers.

SPAM filters generate a signature on each incoming email. The signature is generated from the message so h(m) -%26gt; s. The signarture is a very sort string of numbers (say 16). When the SPAM filter sees more than a few emails that have the same signature, it knows they are the same message and starts to conclude its SPAM.

This is why SPAMMERS include random words in their messages.

If you can get all the people you are emailing to add you to their "white list" then it should allow emails from you go through. Unfortunately, how to use a white list is different for every system.

If you use a bulk mail program, most include a feature that lets you personalize every email even though the message is the same. Say, each email will start with "Dear %26lt;receipients's name%26gt;".

This may or may not help.

Bulk mail programs are lot more convenient for emailing lots of people anyway. They are used for legtimate purposes, not just spamming. I use them to send out HTML formatted email newsletters for several clients.

I am inundated with unwanted emails. Most 2 spam folder but some 2 inbox. Is the only way to change my email ?

I receive about two hundred a day and sometimes a "wanted" email finds its way there.

Don't even bother changing it because it will just start all over again. I know it sucks... just try unsubscribing from them? But someone actually told me that's a trick and just make's them send more...

Can anyone tell me how I can get rid of spam in my bulk email. They are often from the same source."?

How can i broke the spam email from my in e-mail?

Mummy2, if you're trying to move spam from your inbox into the spam folder, just move your mouse and pointer to hover over the little flame icon. When the subject line of the email turns a red-orange colour, just click on the flame and the spam will go straight into the spam folder. To empty your spam folder, just click on the 'Empty' link next to the folder icon and they will disappear. I hope that helps, and that it's answered your question.

What is the process for undoing identification of a senders email address as being spam?

You can send them to your "Blocked Addresses List".

Click on "Options" from your yahoo in-box in the upper right.

Click on "Block Addresses".

Enter the senders email address into the box that opens and click on "Add Block".

What is the process for undoing identification of a senders email address as being spam?
You mean you want to "unspam" someone that you spammed???

Look in the Bulk folder for the email that you spammed. Mark it as "Not Spam". And... look in the list of blocked addresses (Options %26gt; Block Addresses) for that address, select it, and click Remove Block.

What is the best way to keep spam x rated email out of your mailbox?

DO NOT OPEN deletee delete delete soon they will get the message there is no one home .most of all use your spam blocker

What is the best way to keep spam x rated email out of your mailbox?
You can not completely stop all spam, but you can help to put a big dent in it.

First, try not to open any of them, that only makes them send more and more to you.

Check mark them and click on 'Spam,' this should stop those addresses from being delivered to your inbox.

Use your spam filter and block address.

Look for the 'Options' link at upper right corner of mail screen and click on it

Options/ mail options / spam preferences

make sure spam guard is on, click on save changes

Options /mail options / blocked addresses

Enter the E-mail address you wish blocked and click on 'add block'

you will never get mail from that address again.

This should help you to control your spam.

Other tips:

Never open E-mail unless you are absolutely sure who it is from.

Never give out your personal information to anyone.

If at a website and you must sign up for something, check the entire page to make sure you uncheck any lines wanting to send you notices, info, or ads.

Added detail:

Yes, spammers change one item in their addresses a lot, so you might try blocking the entire domain, by putting in

*@ thedomainyouwanttoblock.com

for instance: *@seeyou.com

Hope this helps.
Reply:I'll spare the lengthy explanation on how a SPAMMER works at his / her SPAM craft and advise you check ALL spam email and click the SPAM button each time you see such in your e-address mailbox.

Eventually, the SPAMMER gives up and moves on.

Also equally important, delete those silly chain e-mails that either strangers OR trusted friends send you; some chain e-letters carry "bugs" that report back to their originating SPAMMER, who collects the addresses for potential victims.

Trust me: You won't befall evil bad luck if you don't send the chain email to 10 friends you know. That 'special blessing' you MAY receive if you DO send that chain letter to 10 friends might be that ugly SPAM.

What or who is April Brashears and why do I get spam email with that name in the title?

Spam mail will come with any name in the title. Sometimes if they can ID an email address as belonging to a male, they will send stuff with a female's name in the hopes that you will open it, wondering if you know this girl...

Has anyone sucessfully used those email-spam restaurant gift cards? Or are they (as I suspect) totally bogus?

Totally bogus...it costs more to buy the stuff to get the card than the card is worth.

How do I send on a spam Email to my bank when in yahoo mail?it is very simple in outlook express.?

well I just did the very same thing, I just clicked "Forward" and put in the email address for the bank in the To: section!

if you look on your banks website they should have somewhere on their site that tells you what to do with spam emails, and give an email address to forward them to.

Why is my email address considered spam?

I've tried to email my friend 3 times with problems. First I got a notice, next it was in her junk folder, and I don't think she got the last one.

Also, my emails go into the bulk folder when I tried to email my other adresses.

Anyone know what the problem is? The name itself doesn't look like spam (colasmuffin), and the body doesn't contain anything out of the ordinary.

Why is my email address considered spam?
It has nothing to do with the username. One little important fact you left out of this question. You don't say if your friend has put your email in her email's Address Book. Regardless of what email service she is using, she has an address book or contact list... whatever it's called for that service. She has to make sure your address is on it, or it will go to her junk mail folder. If she says it is already there, she needs to double-check it's accuracy. It's easy to miss something... like a lower case "L" that should be the numeral one (1). Dashes instead of underscore, and vice versa, spaces, etc.
Reply:Many times this has to do w/ the domain it is coming from. For example - many email programs and websites, will block or filter as "junk" email coming from certain domains like yahoo.com, or hotmail.com, b/c those are 2 of the common names used for spamming.. Also, depending on the program (if you're using a program) it may also depend on the subject you use. Certain subject lines trigger spam alert.

Is this email from Yahoo legitimate or spam?

I have recieved an email in my bulk account from"Yahoo Customer Care" requesting my password, user name, date of birth and country of origin. Since it appeared in my bulk folder I am concerned about giving out this info. I am not very computer savy and tried contacting Yahoo for help which is a joke. Can someone tell me if this is real or a scam?

Is this email from Yahoo legitimate or spam?
It's a phishing email, so you better not click on the link and give the phishers your personal information. Doing so will cause the phishers to change the password and control your account, denying you access to it in the process.

Forward the message to the following addresses:

phishing@cc.yahoo-inc.com

mail-spoof@cc.yahoo-inc.com

Then turn around and give the message the well-deserved spam "heave-ho" into the garbage.

Remember that Y! doesn't ever send you an email to verify your account, as this is already stored in the company's servers. By doing what I told you above, you'll end up outsmarting the phishers and keeping your Y! account out of their hands.
Reply:It's a thief try to steal from you. Once they have that information they can get into you computer files and hence all information stored on your computer.
Reply:CON!!! SPAM!! FRAUD!! There is no way, even for Yahoo, that they would ever ask you for your password. Report the sender as possible fraud, Spam at the very least, to Yahoo right away!! DO NOT RESPOND IN ANY WAY TO THE EMAIL!! Hope this helps!!
Reply:Yahoo will never ask you for your password.
Reply:this is a spam, no one would ever request your password, not even the yahoo staff

this is a phishing scam so they can get into your account, change the password and then lock you out of your account

-Jake
Reply:Delete it. It's a SCAM. Yahoo does NOT operate like that.
