What happens if I accidentally mark an email as spam/?

I was going through my e-mail (and I get so much it is ridiculous), and I wanted to mark an e-mail as spam. However, after the letter that I thought I marked was deleted, that letter was still there (which means that I accidentally marked another letter as spam - and have no idea which letter that was)

What happens if I accidentally mark an email as spam/?
Check your spam folder. When you mark a message as spam, Mail moves the message into the Spam folder and continues to deliver messages from that address into your Spam folder. Open the email and click Not Spam. Hope this helps!!!
Reply:You have to go to your spam folder and move the one you want back to your inbox. No other way.
Reply:It goes to your spam folder, Just mark as safe in the spam folder.

Has anyone ever bought v_!_a_g r_@ or any other "illegal" drug from a spam email?

I find it hard to believe that anyone would ever buy a drug like c_1_a_l_1_s or v_i_@_gr_a from a company that sends them spam, especially when the email is incomprehensible, worded poorly or even just spelled out with characters instead of letters of the alphabet. Has anyone actually ever done it?

Beyond that, they can't possibly be making a profit, can they? Anyone have any inside knowledge about the sales volume received vs. from this kind of spam?

It baffles the mind...

Has anyone ever bought v_!_a_g r_@ or any other "illegal" drug from a spam email?
The purpose is to brainwash consumers mind through repeating the brand name to an extend that it becomes stuck in their mind forever. people who eventually will need those products will search for the proper keywords and of course they will find th product in a more credible on line store - the thing is that they are already pre-heated to buy it after all that spam brainwashing.

Or

Go to "Options" It is above your email

Click on "Mail Options"

This should remove the block and allow it to start coming into your inbox. Hope this helps!!!
Reply:First go into the Spam folder, highlight that email and then click Not Spam. You can also make sure this person's address is in your Contacts.

Finally, go to Options, Mail Options, Spam. In the blocked area if the address is in there click on the address and delete it from that box.

How can I unblock two important email addresses that I accidentally reported as spam?

I was very distracted and I marked a bunch of business and professional emails to be put in a business folder in my email. For some unknown reason I hit the spam button so now email from my insurance company and from professional training is going to be blocked as spam. I need to find a way to unblock these addresses.

Go to Options (on right corner of your page)%26gt;Mail%26gt;Block Addresses (under Spam)%26gt; remove address(es) you want to unblock.

Where can i go in order to send out alot of spam to a big list of people?

How can i send spam email?
Spamming is the abuse of electronic messaging systems to indiscriminately send unsolicited bulk messages. While the most widely recognized form of spam is e-mail spam, the term is applied to similar abuses in other media: instant messaging spam, Usenet newsgroup spam, Web search engine spam, spam in blogs, wiki spam, mobile phone messaging spam, Internet forum spam and junk fax transmissions.Spaming is considered illegal in many countries and you might get caught.

How come I get Spam from my own Yahoo Email?

I keep trying to sell myself Replica Watches.. I also see other Yahoo Users trying to sell me Replica Watches..

What's going on?

How come I get Spam from my own Yahoo Email?
It is annoying, but meanwhile spammers know how to make it look like you yourself are the one who is sending such mails. Got some of them myself, but since I know that I don't send myself any junk mail, I just delete them. As far as I know, there is no other way yet to deal with such crap, after all, you can't block your own mail address. Btw - especially those replica watches get reported on YA a lot for the kind of practice you are describing.

Someone has stolen my yahoo email address and is sending me spam from it.How can I stop this please? Edward?

I'm worried they might be sending spam to others using my email address, which I've had for years now and don't really want to use another.

Someone has stolen my yahoo email address and is sending me spam from it.How can I stop this please? Edward?
This is happening to many others at this time, it's a trick of the spammers to get you to open it and or spam it, then you would be blocking your own address. Never mark them as spam, just delete them if in the inbox, if in the spam bin, just empty it. It seems to be in full force now, it will pass, I had some also, my heart sank, then I realized they were not real.
Reply:I say call yahoo if you can and if you can't create a new yahoo account. But if you don't want to do that just change your password. also if you have your own personal laptop create a really complicated password and tape it to the laptop. GOOD LUCK!!
Reply:you should definitely change your password, and inform your friends that your email adress is being hacked into,so they don't think it's you.
Reply:change your password but to have a password no 1 can hack into put two numbers in the start and 3 at the end

Is there an address I can write to or email to keep "spam" from coming in my email?

I know there are addresses to write to in order to stop junk mail coming to your home and phone numbers to stop telemarketers. So something has to be there to stop unsolicited email!

Is there an address I can write to or email to keep "spam" from coming in my email?
unfortunately there is no one simple solution to keep out Spams. There are a few thinsg u can do.

1. Do not give your email away freely on the website.

2. Use filters in your email client to filter out spams from your Inbox.

3. Find the unsubscribe link on the spam mail and unsubscribe.

4. If you are at work, inform your IT administrator
Reply:unfortunately many sites that get your email address SELL it to others to keep their costs down.. and to make money.. so you need to know the privacy policy of the people you give out your email address to....

have multiple email addresses.. one for "junk" sites where you need to give an email address to register.. nobody says you need to check your email every day.. and you can just delete most of it anyway.

if your friends keep sending you stuff that is sent from a "email this to a friend" site... and you get spam from it.. tell that friend to STOP spamming you!!.. then give them your new email address.. (the one for junk mail only)... and cross them off your Christmas card list.
Reply:Simply open another e-mail account with yahoo and let your friends know your new address...and tell them to never submit your new address to any contest ect. for you. When you yourself..submits your e-mail for online sites...like contests or whatever...give them your old email address...check your old e-mail about once every 2 weeks and enjoy your new e-mail address daily.

Good Luck
Reply:Each of the proper free emails which you use like yahoo and hotmail and gmail, all of them have tie ups with various advertising firms in order so that they get the money to keep your their services free, so when you sign up for these, each of them have their own partners which advertise on their sites, so that you see the small ids your inbox page, but some companies sent unsolicited emails which you call it as spam, so the programmers of the email departments try not to block this address incase you have signed up for them, and so they deliver the email to your bulk or junk or whatever is the folder for spam, how ever with yahoo and hotmail, if you see that a company is sending you emails again and again even if you have labelled them as spam, then go to setting and click on "block address" and so the programmers will block that particular address, this is the best you can do.

CHEERS!!!
Reply:You need to analyze the header info in the emails to determine what ISP the mail came from so that you can complain. for instance an email from mandy@sex4u.com may have actually originated from comcast.net. In this example, you would want to forward the email with all the header information to abuse@comcast.net.

Almost every ISP has an abuse@ email address.

The other thing is to simply be very careful what you sign your email address to. You should make one email for signing up forstuff online, and one for just family and friends.

Trhough careful management, I have several email addresses that never get spammed, and one that gets a couple hundred spam a day. Mostly it's a matter of common sense.

Also, be VERY WARY of unsolicited emails win UNSUBSCRIBE buttons. Many of these are just trying random word email addresses on popular ISPs...and when you click UNSUBSCRIBE, you are in fact verifying that your email address is valid and active! Not that ALL unsubscribes do that, but there are many which that is their only function.

Can anyone explain to me where all the spam is suddenly coming from in my yahoo email?

I didn't sign up for anything, but suddenly I am cluttered with spam. Is there any way to stop it?

Can anyone explain to me where all the spam is suddenly coming from in my yahoo email?
If you do purchases online, sign up for newsletters, forums, or anything that requires you to input your email, there is a big chance that you will get spam mail. Most websites do nothing to keep your email or info private, so they are accessible to affiliates on those websites, and they get passed around as usual. Eventually you are spammed with hundreds of junk mail. There isn't anything you can do besides filter them, but you can prevent spam somewhat. You might want to consider a PERSONAL email exclusively for family, friends, and other personals, and another email for newsletters, forums, and even shopping.

Evidently, this doesn't happen on Yahoo email---so assumptions are you're using some other email client, like Microsoft's infamous Outlook Express (which should be avoided, in my opinion).

You obiviously have some bot-net bug in your computer's files somewhere. A good virus scan and equally good spyware scan should snag the nasties and clean 'em out.

I like AVG Free ( www.grisoft.com) and Crap Cleaner ( www.ccleaner.com).

How can I get less spam on my email?

I used to get no spam whatsoever but over the past few months, I am getting more and more spam!

My Yahoo mail does have a spam filter and it works well but I cant understand that 3 months ago, I got one spam email a month, now I am getting one spam e-mail every few hours!

How can I get less spam on my email?
Check Mailwasher, it helps to eliminate spam from your inbox!

Set up your email account(s) in MailWasher and hit the "Check Mail" button. It then downloads all new message headers and displays message details alongside each one (priority, subject, from, to, etc.).

Any email that MailWasher considers to be spam is highlighted for easy sorting.

Two checkboxes are located next to each message header: "Delete" and "Bounce". If you click "Delete" the email will be marked for deletion, click "Bounce" and the mail will be marked for bouncing - a fake "address not found" email will be sent to the sender.

Once you have decided what to bounce and delete, click "Process Mail" to get it done and your mail client launched for downloading all accepted emails.

MailWasher has a "blacklist" and a "friends list" to enter good and bad email addresses. Addresses in the blacklist are marked for deletion, and addresses in the friends list will be marked as okay.

Filters can be set to increase MailWasher's effectiveness. You can have email addressed to "undisclosed recipients" automatically deleted and bounced for example.

Note: the program is free but limited to one email account, and doesn't include Hotmail support.MW Pro supports multiple mail accounts.

Now I can't retrieve any of those emails and I haven't been able to get any emails from his work account. What do I do?

How do I "un-spam" email my husband sends me from work?
You can easily unspam it. Just go into your spam folder and mark that particuluar message as 'not spam'. This moves the message into your inbox and does not send any future emails from this address to the spam folder.
Reply:If you marked a message as spam when it was not spam, this could temporarily affect the efficiency of SpamGuard Plus. We recommend that you do the following:

Go to the trash folder.

Open the message you mistakenly marked as spam.

Click the "Not Spam" button.

The message will be returned to your inbox and your SpamGuard Plus filters will know that this message was, in fact, not spam.
Reply:find his message in spam, click not spam at top..lit will auto start going to in box or you could go into options and set it up to go to in box
Reply:Well, if you are using Yahoo! email, just go into your spam folder, find the message and then select the "Not spam" message for it.
Reply:depending on your mail server, you should have a button that you can choose that marks mail " not spam"

Can I email them without it being called SPAM?

If a customer buys from my online store, can I email them advertisements and specials without it being called SPAM? Even if they didn't sign up for a mailing list?

Can I email them without it being called SPAM?
You can send them a thank you email where you can ask them to sign up to your mailing list. That's the only option acceptable if they did not opt-in to your autoresponder.

If you can include an opt-in form in your sales process, that would fix the problem.
Reply:you can sedn them emails of your products or advertisements and it is not spam. You just have to give them the option to stop receiving them.

How do you prevent your email address from being used to spam other people?

You just can't. The emails work like this: you write a message in your email client and you send it to your email services provider to deliver it to the destinator (who you have specified in the email). Your email services provider (who is actually a machine - email server) receive the email you have sent him, and he post it then to the address you specified.

Now imagine a bad guy sitting on that server, rewriting your destinator's address - in this case your email will be sent to somebody else.

Now imagine a bad guy, again sitting on the same server, but now rewriting YOUR (senders) address - and here it is. In fact he doesn't need your email - he can just make one (with your email address in the Sender field, same as he can edit the coming emails.

So if someone has a server like this, he can just do this forever ;)

How do you prevent your email address from being used to spam other people?
You need to not download any viruses or spyware. If you get an attachment by email, do not download it, unless you know the sender, and even then look at it and make sure it is something that they were suppose to send you.

I accidently indentified a message from a good friend as spam. How can I de-spam him and email agains to him?

Now I cannot receive e-mails from him and even though I have him listed in my "address booK" I cannot send him e-mails either. I want to undo this and be able to communicate with him again. How can I fix this?

I accidently indentified a message from a good friend as spam. How can I de-spam him and email agains to him?
Go into your email, go to Options, then go to Blocked Addresses. Check to see if your friends email address is listed there. If it is, click on it and then click Remove.

If that does not solve your problem, then you have received an email virus, try this...........

Click on your Start Menu, go to Programs, go to your Internet Service Provider (Comcast, NetZero, AOL.....) go to Support and option to Restore. This will restore your computer back to the last date it was working properly on line.

Now go back to your email and try again. If it doesn't work, restart your computer and then try again.

There is never a good reason to save Spam. Even if you have another email account, you should have similar options, I recommend the following email adjustments:

To STOP receiving unwanted (Spam/Bulk/Junk) email, do the following:

Log into your Email, go to Options (upper right hand side). Go through all your settings and don't forget to save them too.

Under Spam Protection, make sure your Spam Guard is turned ON. Option to immediately delete all Spam messages. This will force all new email to redirect to your Inbox. Option to Block messages that you mark as Spam. If you plan on keeping your Bulk folder, also option messages you mark as Not-Spam to be moved to your Inbox. Always Option to Block all Images until you can look them over first. This prevents spammers from knowing you opened their email. Save Changes.

Under Blocked Addresses, type in spammer.com, this will stop all Spam that has been reported to Yahoo from ever entering your email. I recommend you remove everything on your list first. This will give you a fresh start after you type in the "spammer.com".

Under General Preferences, Folders/Search Results, Special Folders, option to redirect incoming unsolicited email to the Bulk Folder. Save.

Check your Marketing Preferences to make sure you didn't accidently request something. Go into My Account, click Marketing Preferences, click Clear and Save Your Changes.

If you get email from someone you don't know, NEVER open it (it may contain viruses) and report it as SPAM. This will automatically block it from your email account. When you do open an email that is Spam, you have alerted the sender that your account is Active.

This will immediately stop all the Junk Mail considerably. I only get maybe one or two Spam emails a Month. Remember, anytime you give out your email address over the internet, you can expect to receive some kind of Spam, unless you have made sure that site is secured.

Don't save messages in your Inbox folder. Instead create a folder to move them to. Open your Inbox, click the box next to the message(s) you want to save, click the tab above that says Move and create a folder to move it to. Always keep your Inbox clear and ready to receive New Messages. You can have as many folders as you want.

Good Luck!
Reply:Thank you for the votes.

It is an honor. Report Abuse

Reply:If you change your mind or think you made a mistake, just look for the next message from that sender in your Bulk folder and click Not Spam to reverse your vote.

Spam email is being sent from my Yahoo ID. My anti virous is uptodate and shows no virous How can I fix this?
There is not a whole lot you can do. Spammers get your address in a lot of ways including scanning web pages for addresses visible there, checking chain emails for the plainly visible email addresses showing up as people forward the emails, and harvesting them from virus-infected computers.

Once they have your email address, they can easily write their email to appear as if it came from you. Most spammers use programs that fill this information in for them. But in the mechanics of email, there's rarely any verification done to determine that the source of an email is really who it appears to be. It's kind of like taking a bunch of postal letters and writing your neighbor's house address on the return address line--- the mailman is not going to confirm that the letters came from you really.

I'd recommend closing your current address down (just don't use it for a while and Yahoo will turn it off) then setting up two new ones--- one that you only use for family and friends or business contacts that you tell in advance to please not send you chain letters, funny pictures, anything that says "send this to everyone in your address book", and another for posting stuff to the Internet, signing up for newsletters, etc, and for those friends who insist on sending you the silly pictures of the cats or the guy kicking the soccer ball in a kilt... you know the ones I mean! This way, you can shut down the second address as it too gets discovered by spammers and exploited.

Go ahead and report it to Yahoo but do not expect any real action. The resources required to track this to its source are pretty heavy-duty and are not likely to ever track the spammer to its source. Spammers take control of other people's computers, use disposable accounts and use public computers or access points like coffee shops. By the time you trace the email to where it physically came from, the guy has long since vanished.

Go ahead and change your passwords--- good idea to do this from time to time anyway--- but most likely your account has not been actually accessed. They've used other ways to forge your address.
Reply:If they're not using your account...then they're forging your address. Just like they could pretend to be anyone else
Reply:Change your password and make it stronger, ie letters AND numbers.

Reply:People will give you many answers to this question. Have multiple email addresses, report the spammers... None of these work. The spammers have MANY tricks. To get by filters they just use images instead of text. To change where a spam is coming from they infect millions of unsuspecting computers with viruses that work as 'spambots', sending out spam emails and hiding the actual sender of the spam. The ONLY way that I have found to completely eliminate spam is a free email service that I found. http://www.EnterTo.com uses channels. If you get a spam through a channel, you just delete it.

Reply:There is no way you can rid yourself of SPAM, however, you can reduce it greatly by having more than one e-mail address. Use one for e-mail to friends only. This should keep it "clean." Use the other for searches, purchases, whatever. It will fill with SPAM but at least it will keep it out of your "private" address.

In Yahoo Mail, Options, General Preferences, set preferences to display about 25 messages at a time. This way you can quickly look down the list of senders. If it is all SPAM, click "check all," then click "delete." Gone, with two clicks.

If any wanted e-mail accidentally goes into the "bulk" folder, click the box preceding the sender, then click "move to," where you can move it to your inbox.

How can I register my email address to no longer receive spam?

I use yahoo and I get about 60 messages a day from spam that I just delete. I don't know where they come from cause I don't sign up for random junk on the internet. Anyone know of some good sites to register on so I don't receive this crap anymore?

How can I register my email address to no longer receive spam?
Couple of things you can do:

From Int. Exp."

cl Tools

cl Internet Options

Delete Cookies

Delete Files

Clear History

Set days to store pages to 0

From Yahoo Mail:

cl Options

cl General Preferences

Scroll down - set number of messages to display to 25

This way, you can quickly look down the list of senders to see if anything you want landed in bulk accidentally. If not, and it is all junk, click "check all," then click "delete." Gone, with 2 mouse clicks.

You cannot completely stop SPAM, just try to keep it to a bare minimum.
Reply:Not possible... Just mark every "spam" message as spam in Yahoo.. as Yahoo learns you will get less spam
Reply:You will never be able to escape spam. It is just a part of e-mail life. Just delete it and be happy.

How do I remove spam specific to a sender and not an email address?

I am getting an inordinate amount of spam from "Sender" Aeigis Capital Group, but from various email sources. I get anywhere from 10 to 15 a day, and it has gone beyond frustration and harrassment. How can I prevent any of these emails from entering my inbox, specifically if it is from this sender?

If the government is cracking down on email spam, why don't they crack down on junk snail mail?

I just wonder what's the difference between people bothering me through my email and people bothering me through my post? I hate both.

If the government is cracking down on email spam, why don't they crack down on junk snail mail?
you can sing up for a do not mail list now too, it works pretty well, I have a few friends who have and they say the same
Reply:any junk mail that I get I will use their own postage paid envelope to mail them trash. It only takes a second to fill the envelope and mail it back at em
Reply:because the gov't makes money from snail mail spam in the form of postage.
Reply:you got the answer, the government makes money. i'll give you a solution for some of it. take any pre-paid envelope they send in the junk and mail it back to them empty.
Reply:Junk snail mail isn't as much of a problem, since it costs companies money in postage to send it. If we found a way to charge people for sending us unwanted e-mails, then e-mail spam would decrease too.
Reply:because the post offices would go broke.
Reply:Oh that's easy. The government gets paid for the postage on the spam in your mailbox, but they haven't found a way to tax email spam yet, so they're against it.
Reply:you can dump both, it is real easy.

Keep on getting spam email (in hotmail) that is in Japanese?

They all have the same layout, but the links change and the address changes. The only same link in all of them (I think) is infoinfo_kyohi_ado@yahoo.co.jp This has only started recently and hasn't happened before. As far as I know I haven't entered my email anywhere I shouldn't, so I don't know where it could have originated. Any help would be much appreciated.

Keep on getting spam email (in hotmail) that is in Japanese?
When you receive the emails, Select them, and mark them as junk. This way when the next ones come through, they will go straight to you Junk Mail, and you wont have to bother with them.

Once they are in your junk mail folder, you can report them as Spam, or Phishing Scam.

Try that.

How to allow an email newsletter that is being treated like spam?

I have a friend who sends me a weekly email newsletter. Recently it is being blocked and returned to him like spam as there are too many recipients. It is not spam and I do want to receive it. How can I tell my email account to allow this email from this senders address?

How to allow an email newsletter that is being treated like spam?
You need to have that particular address entered into your address book. That notifies Yahoo it's one of your contacts.

You might want to check your blocked list also, just in case----and if it's in there----remove it.

Mail page%26gt;%26gt;options (upper right)%26gt;%26gt;block addresses. Look through the list---find that address----click on it-----remove block.
Reply:Put them in your address book.

Any software/method to ban spam email address by clicking ?

As far as I know, the best is to not clicking on unknown links,

set email filter and delete those emails with unreadable titles.

Is there a software/method where I can simply ban particular email address(es) simply by clicking on the title ?

I notice that lots of those spams have unreadable titles and you can delete them straight away safely.

It will be great if such a software exists. It's very tiring having to include spam email addresses in the filter..

If a spam email address is blocked, how does it still turn up in my Inbox ?

I'm beginning to see a great deal of spam coming from Yahoo email addresses. In some cases, the spam note indicates that the Yahoo email address which forwarded the spam was "previously blocked." If it was previously blocked. how the heck did it get to my Inbox ?

If a spam email address is blocked, how does it still turn up in my Inbox ?
Because 1) spammers are cunning and relentless, and 2) spam filters can never be 100% effective.
Reply:Spammers don't use the same email address twice for sending out their junk mails. The mails may look the same, but they each come from a different address. That's why the spam blocker can't catch them. If you see commonly used words in the subject lines, you can create your own filters (Options %26gt; Filters) to automatically get rid of emails that contain those words. I have filters that look for "lottery" and "winner", and find it goes a long way to keeping the spam at manageable levels.

My publicity email turned to spam. How can I fix this?

Because of the need to advertise one of the products of the company I work for, I had to send nearly a hundred emails (all of our customers) from my work account. The problem is, now I am getting feedback saying that my email address and the company's domain was treated as spam. How can I fix this so we can continue sending emails to our customers?

Please note this is not massive mail meant to be spam, but actual publicity of our products being sent to customers actually paying us for other services.

My publicity email turned to spam. How can I fix this?
I THINK if you go into your email options (on my right side of the screen, almost to the top) you can correct this by resetting the spam filter. If not..hopefully someone with more experience can give you a better answer! good luck!
Reply:Send out 1 at a time - no CC or BCC. Too many people in the BCC or CC lines gets you flagged.

Recovering an email sent to spam?

I accidentally checked an email in my inbox as spam and clicked the button before I realized it wasn't spam. Is there any way to retrieve this message or is it gone for good? Is this sender now blocked from me account?

Recovering an email sent to spam?
hahah... i have done that too!

I hope you have ur preferences saved such that spam mails are also saved for a small period in a seperate spam folder.

If you have a spam folder , look for the mail, and mark it again as "Not spam"

If you just don't have a spam folder then the mail is gone! if you know the sender ask them to resend it , of course after you have changed the preferences!
Reply:Unless the message has been deleted from the spam folder, then there's still a very good chance to retrieve it-now may be the time to do so. Here's how you do it:

-Proceed to the spam folder and carefully search for the message that you accidentally spammed and highlight it

-Then click Not Spam to return the message to the inbox; this action will also remove the address from the list of blocked addresses.

Hope this helps.

How do I get rid of all the Spam mail I keep getting in my email?

I mark them all as spam but they keep coming. I get like 100 a day!

How do I get rid of all the Spam mail I keep getting in my email?
Once your email address is on a spammers list it is almost impossible to get off. Right now, your e-mail address (along with millions of others) is on a CD being sold from the back rooms of software shops from Bangladesh to Botswanna and from Norway to the Netherlands.

However there are several things that you can do to prevent even more spam.

1. Start by removing your e-mail address from your Yahoo profile,if it is on it. The spam-industry has programs that are continusously crawling the web looking for the "@" symbol which is a sure sign the the word before it and the domain name after it is an e-mail address!

2. Use a longer address. The spam industry uses programs that try sending e-mail to all known domain names. Example: a program might start trying to send out e-mails to everyone starting with aaaaa@INVALID.com and continue down to zzzzz@INVALID.com. Using a longer e-mail address will make this harder to do.

3. Never click the "Unsubscribe Link" in any spam e-mail. This will only confirm to the spammers that your e-mail address is indeed real and that you are reading their garbage. In fact, do not even open any e-mail from anybody you don't know or trust. Many spams are not only annoying but contain viruses of other malware. Just delete 'em without opening 'em!.

You can however click that "Unsubscribe Me" button from businesses that are well known and that you trust. Walmart... yes. Someone selling Viagra...no.

4. Open up a second e-mail account. Whenever, a website requires you to register using your e mail address, use this secondary address. There are many unscrupulous websites that will sell you address to others or bombard you with spam themselves.

5. Download a free copy of SiteAdvisor. SiteAdvisor will alert you when you search (Google, Yahoo, MSN, search only) of websites that are known to send out spam. This can help you avoid registering with any sites that are known to spam people.

http://www.siteadvisor.com/

Treat your e-mail address just like you would your telephone number or home address....only give it out to those that you absolutely trust!
Reply:Make sure not to put your e-mail in all websites.

Make a junk email just fro that reason:) but you might wanna get a blocker for that kind of stuff
Reply:Check all the spam in your inbox and "Report as spam". You may have to do this for a little while as your email provider catches up with the requests. You might want to think about having one email for family/friends and 1 for spam (internet sign ups, etc.) Whatever you do DO NOT "unsubcribe" from them, as this will bring even more spam.

2. Only accept mail from people you know in your inbox.

3. Have one email address for general usage and a second one for official stuff, like family, subscriptions, banking.

Reply:If yours is a Yahoomail account, you'll notice right at the top, alongside 'Sign Out' there's a 'My Account' tab.

Click on it.

Once you're in, you'll be serve with a range of options to select from. One of those will help you with the Spam Filter thing.

Get in there, select the repective E-mail ID you wish to get off the select and follow the instructions.

Reply:it would depend on your email program. Do you use yahoo (an internet based email) Outlook, Eudora or something else?

How do large companies send out millions of email in a day without them instantly going to the spam folder?

I am looking for a career change and was reading up on bulk email marketing for a particular job I am looking at. I am assuming that this would be done by a particular type of software. Does anyone know what type of software this would be so that I can read about it or if you know anything about the concept will you please share you experience.

Thanks.

How do large companies send out millions of email in a day without them instantly going to the spam folder?
Most companies are cheating when they send out millions of emails. The servers have them sign an agreement that they won't do this. So the companies are usually cheating since they promised they wouldn't do it.

The software they use allows them to "spoof" the server into thinking that the emails are coming from 100 different locations and computers. There is not one single company that is legally sending out millions of emails every day. Not one..
Reply:Bulk email marketing is generally done by specialized software. Most of this type of software is now web-based. The introduction of the CAN-SPAM Act means that it is illegal to send email that is not permission-based. So you need a reputable email service provider (sometimes called email marketing software). They generally charge a monthly subscription based on the number of contacts you are sending to.

You need to take into account the deliverablity rate of the supplier, as well as what other features they can help you with. I'd recommend trying out Contactology (www.contactology.com). Most email providers will allow you to have a free trial, so give it a try

How do I get a phone number to call Yahoo email for help on spam?

Have tried everything to get a yahoo phone number to find information. FAQ etc is worthless

How do I get a phone number to call Yahoo email for help on spam?
You don't have to call Yahoo for help on spam. There are lots of ways to contact Yahoo. But they provided a lot of FAQ with answers under Yahoo help. I know sometimes, they can be so confusing. But if you really want to contact them; you can send them an e-mail which they respond in a timely manner. I have done this in the past several times. You can send your e-mail to:

mail@cc.yahoo.inc.com

I tried, but they refused to allow me to copy and paste.

Below is an example of one of their replies to me:

for answers if you have not already done so,

To tell you the truth, you'll find clearer solutions to your problems in this site.

But I'm sure I can help you with your particular problem. I'll explain it explicitly and in simple terms:

Yahoo does have Spam Block and it's free. There are several provisions for spam block. Go to mail options, found on the extreme right of the yahoo mail page. Under General Preferences, look for Special Folders. Check the box that says sent messages will be send to your sent folder and that unsolicited mail or suspected spam will go to your bulk folder. And Under Spam Protection, turn Spam guard on, and mark the box to immediately delete these messages upon receipt. Or you can choose to save messages for 1 month, the longest.

Under marking Spam and not Spam. Check the box that upon marking, the message will be deleted immediately and the sender's e-mail address to be added to the blocked addresses list. Then you can check the box that when you mark a message in the Bulk Folder as not spam, move message to inbox. And you can choose to block images in the messages.

You can check your block addresses list under two headings. One is under the the block address in this mail option. You can add manually the e-mail of this unwanted contact. The other section to view your blocked addresses list is under the spam. This is located on the e-mail message itself. Spam comes after Forward (you'll find delete, reply, forward then Spam).

After manually marking that particular unwanted, pestering and annoying e-mail. his e-mail address will automatically be added to the blocked addresses list. In here,is the option to view that list. Make sure his e-mail address is there. He might use an altenate e-mail address. You can either add, unblock and update your list. Do not just delete it.AS this will not solve the problem. Do not unsubscribe for any telemarketer ads, they'll just send you more now that they are sure of your e-mail address. Again,I stress that you have to mark it manually. But if you accomplish the provided prior guidelines, you should not have to do this manually. It should all be accomplsihed automatically for you.

Another way to ensure that you don't receive these spam. Go to My Account and locate Edit

Marketing Preferences. Do not check any of those boxes. This exhibits your various interests and give them cart blanc permission to send you more irritating spam.

There's a final drastic solution to undertake to avoid spam. In your Bulk Folder, turn Spam Guard on and mark the box to delete all spam immediately upon receipt even before you get a chance to review them. This way, your Bulk Folder will stay empty. But if you follow the other precautionary steps, you might not have to do this.
Reply:i dont know but i have been getting hammered with spam every day for the past couple of months

How do I flag unwanted email as spam even if spam guard is on?

Assuming you're on Yahoo, when you look at the list of messages, there is a "spam" button at the top (between delete and mark). Click the box(es) to the left of the message subject(s) and then click the "spam" button. If you've opened the message, you can simply click the "spam" button above the message between forward and move.

How do you stop spam on your yahoo email account?

How do you stop spam on your yahoo email account?
the only real solution would be to close that account and start another one and quit clicking on things if your not sure what they are..........or you can endure the spam as it comes in and mark it as spam and yahoo will send any further mail from them to the dump and it wont hit your inbox..............or keep that address and make a new id and inform all your friends of the new you, that way all your friends would be using the new address and you could use the old address to click away........lol good luck

This happened to me a few months ago, too.

I was getting a lot of spam every day from my own Yahoo email account.

I tried everything I could think of and even contacted Yahoo about it but nothing did any good and Yahoo would not bother to help me.

I finally had to delete that Yahoo acct and start a new one.

Click on "Blocked Addresses"

Click on the Address you want to remove block

I think a very important email was automatically deleted in Spam. I can't contact the sender. Can I find out?

This a very important reply to my message, but I cannot ask my sender if they responded. One response would have taken place in February, one possibly in February or March. I'm afraid it came in through spam and was just deleted without my even knowing it was sent. I need to know if there is a way to "undelete" and retrieve this message. Any info with be very much appreciated. Thank You!

I think a very important email was automatically deleted in Spam. I can't contact the sender. Can I find out?
Probably not. But maybe you could write this person and say that you have had porblems with your email and everything was deleted.
Reply:Once a message has been deleted, it is gone forever, unless you have specific software to retrieve it. If you think it was a message that went to spam, always check your spam to make sure there is not something in there you want to keep - check mark and click on 'Not spam.' Make sure your spam is in the box for a time period long enough for you to check them.

Look for the 'Options' link at upper right corner of mail screen and click on it

Options/ mail options / spam preferences

make sure spam guard is on, check the length of time in box, then click on save changes.

How do I find a list of email messages that have been blocked as spam?

How do I find a list of email messages that have been blocked as spam?
If your spam settings are set to save blocked emails, just go to your Bulk folder and check there. If you're not sure of what your settings are on, go to Options on the right of the main mail screen, then to Spam Protection in the first column. The first section controls what Yahoo does to spam, and you can change that as you need to.

To be sure that your client's emails come through to you, create a filter so that Yahoo will not send your client's emails to the Bulk or Trash folders. (Filters take precedence over spam settings.) Go to Options, then to Filters in the middle column. Click Add to create a new filter, then give it a name and fill in your client's email address in the "From header:" box. Towards the bottom of the page, choose where you want your client's email to go - the Inbox is easiest, unless you have a different folder for specific clients. Then click Save Changes and you should be set.

No excuse for that. It is with all bulk mail in place of the spam button. It is a glitch. You can try to restart the pc to fix if you want.

When I reply to spam mail and tell them to leave me alone I get a delivery failure notice.

How can you receive spam from an email address that doesn't exist?
Spammers know how to forge mail addresses. You should never reply to spam mails, because that lets them know that they hit a real mail address and subsequently you will even get more spam mail!
Reply:That is just 1 on MANY tricks the spammers have up their sleeves. I could go on and on about their tricks but I have found only 1 perfect system that allows me to stop receiving all spam while not loosing any of the emails that I WANTED to receive. http://www.EnterTo.com has the Challenge Response to protect against spambots AND seamlessly creates an alias channel between you and everyone that you communicate with. They are ridiculously easy to manage as well. I have been using EnterTo.com for about 2 years now and I get NO spam and I get ALL the emails that I wanted to get. There isn't even a bulk or spam folder since it is not needed.

Does anyone know how to stop spam from BBDO Worldwide special offers via email?

They somehow use my email address as if it's coming from my email account. There is an "unsubscribe" button but all you get is 404 Not Found.

Does anyone know how to stop spam from BBDO Worldwide special offers via email?
Yes same here. How do they use my email address?Wonder if they can access our email accounts also!
Reply:Same question here. Are there any parallels to be found among us?

Reply:I don't know but it is happening to me, too, in the same way!

Why do i get the same spam email in yahoo mail when i've hit the spam button?

the typical...lottery win email, yet i've already hit the spam button tonight for the exact same email up to 20 times from the same sender but it keeps arriving...surelyl this shouldn't happen?

Why do i get the same spam email in yahoo mail when i've hit the spam button?
In classic mail when you hit spam it adds the address to the blocked address list. In new mail it is not automatic. The spam notice going to Yahoo does not block immediately. If that was the case you could block anyone's mail from everybody. It takes many notifications from multiple people for a spam to be blocked. What most people don't know that there is only a single spam filter for all of the free Yahoo mail. The only personal block is the blocked address list.

Reply:just delete your email. yahoo offers free email, but doesn't keep up on its own program

just like politics. they all brag, and never fix anything

If my email is being exploited to send spam, is my computer infected w/a virus?

I just very recently set up a new email account. In my spam folder, I noticed that there are emails being sent using my new email as the sender in the "From" area. Does this mean I have a hole in my computer and someone is seeing everything I do on the Internet? How did my brand new email get exploited?

If my email is being exploited to send spam, is my computer infected w/a virus?
There are many factors that might explain how emails are being sent from your address maliciously (you downloaded a attachment that contained a trojan, etc).

Let me ask you this:

Do you have a firewall?

Do you have an anti-virus?

Do you have an antispyware?

If you have neither one of them or just one, than you're really asking for a trojan.

For Firewall I recommend ONE of these (only use one firewall):

Comodo Firewall Pro (It's free):

http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/

Online Armor Free:

http://www.tallemu.com/online_armor_free...

For free anti-virus (if you can't afford one), I recommend ONE of these:

Avast! Home Edition (provides multiple protections)

http://avast.com/eng/download-avast-home...

AntiVir Personal Edition Classic (strongest among the two, but also a bit more advance)

http://www.free-av.com/

For antispyware I recommend these two (you can have both of these on the same computer):

AVG Antispyware (use to be ewido antispyware and for the first 30 days, you'll be using the Trial version of AVG Antispyware Paid version. After that you'll just get the scanner):

http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

SuperAntispyware Free (powerful tool)

http://www.superantispyware.com/

Also for additional safety, I recommend you perform an online scan with kaspersky online scanner:

Reply:You have a trojan virus, you need to get rid of it. get anti virus and not the free ones, also try this

How do I keep my email address and destroy spam?

I get it everyday it doesn't stop. If I don't maintain my PRIMARY email address it would have been flooded with spam. I literally have a tear in my eye...

How do I keep my email address and destroy spam?
impossible but you can try adding every single one as junk mail and they may just end up in your junk box everytime they send you something :D
Reply:You can not completely stop all spam, but you can help to put a big dent in it.

First, try not to open any of them, that only makes them send more and more to you.

Check mark them and click on 'Spam,' this should stop those addresses from being delivered to your inbox.

Use your spam filter and block address.

Look for the 'Options' link at upper right corner of mail screen and click on it

Options/ mail options / spam preferences

make sure spam guard is on, click on save changes

Options /mail options / blocked addresses

Enter the E-mail address you wish blocked and click on 'add block'

you will never get mail from that address again.

This should help you to control your spam.

Other tips:

Never open E-mail unless you are absolutely sure who it is from.

Never give out your personal information to anyone.

If at a website and you must sign up for something, check the entire page to make sure you uncheck any lines wanting to send you notices, info, or ads.

Hope this helps.
Reply:you can send spam files to spam folder and simply click"empty" every time to empty your spam folder. this is the case on yahoo mail, im sure gmail works in the same fashion.

your corporation email prolly don't have that many spam mails anyway, since nobody knows ur corp. email.

your @.edu college email prolly dont have that many spam mails anyway, since again nobody knows ur college email.
Reply:activate the spam filter.

when you get spam mark it spam.

Know why they called this email junk SPAM?

Because NO ONE WANTS ANY! LOL Really
Reply:You can just block it
Reply:most of mine just automatically goes into a folder called "spam"
Reply:I'm having same issue..dude..

What's a good Professional Email Hosting Service that has blacklist protection and good spam prevention?

My company has about 100 employees who need stable, reliable, spam-free, unblacklisted e-mail services with good support for end-users. We are currently being hosted on a web server and it has gotten hacked a few times and causing us to get blacklisted by almost every network. Who do you suggest?

What's a good Professional Email Hosting Service that has blacklist protection and good spam prevention?
http://hostingscorecard.com/EmailS-1.htm... has a list of host that specifically provide email hosting. Some of them are standard webhosts who offer separate email hosting packages. However some of them are only email hosts, thats what they specialize in and thats all they do.

There are 21 hosts on that list and they are all rated based on a minimum of 1000 user comments/reviews over the last 6 months.
Reply:i'd recommend Hostgator for it is more reliable than others.

after running with hostgator for a few months and had zero downtime and the forum and blog and email have been very fast. We鈥檙e sure that hostgator is very fast and stable web hosting provider.

You may read some reviews, user feedback, and speed test here:

http://www.hostgator-review-coupon.org/

You can also get some coupon code to save money.

Hope this makes sense!
Reply:I currently have a dedicated server with http://www.psychz.net and I am paying around $220 per month for it. They do manage the server, take care of all critical updates, firewall etc. I use it mainly for hosting websites, so maybe you should look into vps since you need it only for email. The owner of the company is really friendly and he will try his best to help you out.

Both are good and provide good support in my experience.

If you want to pay more and have phone support, say so.

I made a mistake and reported an email as spam. I need to recieve this email. Can you help me change this?
Hi, you do not need to contact anyone to have this reversed. You can do it yourself.

Just follow these steps:

1.) Go to OPTIONS

2.) From the drop down menu choose MAIL OPTIONS

3.) On the next page choose SPAM on the left side of the page

4.) Go to the blocked senders list and find the email address that you want to remove and click on it

5.) When the address is highlighted click the REMOVE button on the right side of the box

6.) When you're finished click SAVE CHANGES at the top of the screen

I hope this helps.

Why is email from ME going into SPAM folder?

I sent two emails to a group I email daily and put myself in the cc field. The last two emails have been directed into my SPAM folder and not into my inbox. Why is YAHOO considering email I SEND from my YAHOO address SPAM??? And I pay for this service?

Why is email from ME going into SPAM folder?
Really this is pretty weird, but Yahoo does classify many repetitive emails as spam. So when it came back to you it sees that this went to many. It also rates a message by the verbage. You must have used all the right words.

Click it as Not Spam and Yahoo will remember that.
Reply:Because you don't have your e-mail address in your contacts list.

Therefore it doesn't know your e-mail address and it will automatically go into the spam folder.

To fix this, all you have to do is add yourself as a contact.

Hope I've helped!

Spam email. I have been sent a couple of spam emails, seemingly from my own email account (Yahoo). Is this a?

ruse to make me open them? Or is something sinister at play. I have an Apple Mac.

Thank you

Spam email. I have been sent a couple of spam emails, seemingly from my own email account (Yahoo). Is this a?
I had similar experience. After getting advice off Answers, I closed my email account, set up three new accounts, each for seperate purposes - online shopping, work stuff and keeping in touch with friends. I also made a printed list of my contacts, as well as having lists in my accounts. I made all my passwords much more secure and change them regularly. I now only get spam on my online shopping address.

I had trouble persuading Yahoo that the account was mine in order to close it, but when several friends reported spam email to Yahoo from my address that helped get things moving.

Incidently I also set up a one-off account to email the scammer at my own address and asked him to pack it in, as I was an old lady and it was all too much of a hassle for me. He emailed back and said Sorry!

Reply:This is one of many tricks the spammers use. They put your return address on the mail, but there will also be a return envelope address for all the mails sent with it. Sending a copy of the full header along with a copy of the email to the abuse department at your mail provider may get them stopped. Otherwise there is nothing else you can do.
Reply:I've had the same problem and Yahoo Mail weren't exactly helpful.

All thats happened is that someone has got hold of your email address and is sending out emails as though they are from you to prevent the messages getting blocked. Unfortunately it's not too difficult to make the email appear to be from your outbox even though it's not.

Unfortunately there's not a lot you can do to remedy it
Reply:I suggest not to open them. Just delete them straight away.

It's very easy to forge sender's email address. That's why

you may get spam from yourself. It has nothing to do with

using Mac.
Reply:change your password on the account and then spam the messages so that they will be sent to junk mail instead of your inbox
Reply:SPAM = don't open
